Speaking at the Congress, Mr. An Vu Binh, Second Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea, acknowledged the growing Vietnamese community in Jeonnam-Gwangju, noting their positive contributions to the local society while always keeping their homeland in mind.
The Embassy highly appreciates the Association's role in connecting the community, providing practical support to members, and contributing to the promotion of Vietnam–Republic of Korea friendship.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dao Tuan Hung, Chairman of the General Association of Vietnamese in the Republic of Korea, emphasized the importance of generational succession as a crucial factor for sustainably maintaining and developing community activities.
The report at the Congress indicated that during the 2024–2026 term, the Association implemented various practical activities such as maintaining Vietnamese language classes for children of multicultural families and regularly organizing community events, notably the "Vietnam Day" programs in Yeosu and Gangjin.
Alongside the achievements, the Association candidly acknowledged limitations in human resources and operational time. The Congress elected the 21-member Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term of the Vietnamese Association in Jeonnam-Gwangju.
In the first session, the Executive Committee unanimously elected Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Hoa as the President of the Association; the Vice Presidents are Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung (standing), Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet. Several positions in charge of specialized committees were also consolidated to enhance operational efficiency.
The 8th Congress is considered a significant milestone in the more than 15-year formation and development of the Association. With the motto "Connect – Accompany – Develop", the new term aims to strengthen community cohesion, improve activity quality, expand cooperation, and provide more effective support for Vietnamese people in the Republic of Korea.
The Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term commits to continuing to play a bridging role, contributing to building a more united, integrated, and sustainably developing Vietnamese community in Jeonnam-Gwangju.
