The Ambassador also recalled the special milestone of 2025 when Vietnam and Indonesia officially upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during General Secretary To Lam's state visit to Indonesia in March. This marked an important development, promoting deeper cooperation between the two countries, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Vietnam-Indonesia diplomatic relations (1955-2025).
Along with strengthened political, security, and defense foundations, economic and trade cooperation between the two countries continues to grow robustly. People-to-people exchanges are increasingly vibrant, with rising numbers of tourists and family visits. Destinations in Vietnam such as Sa Pa, Ha Long, Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Da Lat, Da Nang, and Hoi An, as well as unique local cuisine and culture, are highly appreciated by Indonesian tourists.
The year 2025 saw positive signals in aviation connectivity as Vietjet and Vietnam Airlines expanded their operations. In November 2025, Vietnam Airlines launched the Hanoi-Jakarta route, connecting the capitals of the two countries. Additionally, the image of VinFast electric taxis operating on many streets in Jakarta and surrounding areas is seen as a testament to the capabilities and aspirations of Vietnamese businesses to reach international markets.
