Vietnamese community in Japan organizes badminton tournament celebrating National Day

The tournament was organized by the Tozai Bado Badminton Club with support from the Vietnam–Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA) and the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan.
A total of 214 amateur athletes, including Vietnamese engineers, trainees, students, as well as Japanese and international friends, participated in the competition.
Attending and cheering for the athletes, Mr. Vu Tien Han, Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, delivered remarks, praising the Organizing Committee’s efforts over more than three months of preparation to successfully host the tournament.
“This event is not only a chance for athletes to express their passion for badminton, but also an opportunity for players and supporters to strengthen exchanges and learning, thereby contributing to building a united and strong Vietnamese community in Japan”, Mr. Vu Tien Han said.

Taking place at a time when people in Vietnam and overseas Vietnamese communities around the world are joyfully celebrating this significant national event, the tournament proved highly attractive, drawing participants from many regions of Japan, including distant prefectures such as Iwate, Okayama, and Aichi.
Mr. Do Quang Ba, Chairman of FAVIJA, said that the tournament was not only a platform for improving health but also one of the special events in a series of activities organized by FAVIJA to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s Independence Day.
After a day of exciting competition, the first prize in the Men’s Doubles (Level 1) went to Japanese athletes Kikuchi Kazuki and Kankouta. The second prize in Level 1 was awarded to Vietnamese athletes Vu Que Lam and Pham Tran Hoang.
The prize winners received many gifts from sponsors, including Smiles Money Transfer Service, J-Connect Telecommunications Network, and DS Sport Company.

Mr. Tran Xuan Hung, Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that badminton is a sport requiring the perfect combination of strength and tactical thinking.
The tournament has become a driving force to encourage physical training within the community, aiming to cultivate human resources who are not only intellectually capable but also physically strong.
It also served as a platform to connect Vietnamese compatriots and fellow countrymen, while strengthening friendship with the Japanese people and promoting a positive image of Vietnamese in the eyes of the local community.
