Vietnam participates in the 10th China-South Asia Expo and the 30th Kunming Import and Export Fair

WVR - On June 11, 2026, the 10th China-South Asia Expo and the 30th Kunming Import and Export Fair opened in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China. With the theme “Solidarity, Cooperation, and Development Together”, the expo features 13 exhibition zones over an area of 130,000 m² with approximately 8,000 standard booths, attracting participation from over 30 countries and territories, along with enterprises from more than 20 provinces and cities in China.

At the Opening Ceremony, He Wei, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, emphasized that in recent years, China and the countries of South Asia and Southeast Asia have maintained a spirit of openness, cooperation, and inclusiveness, promoting the connection between the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the development strategies of these countries, continuously advancing practical cooperation in various fields. China will continue to collaborate with South and Southeast Asian countries to write a new chapter of cooperation for faster development and prosperity.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan and Consul General of Vietnam in Kunming Nghiem Viet Chung, attended the Opening Ceremony and related events. At this year's expo, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized a national booth with an area of 72m² to introduce trade promotion information, aiming to promote the image, products, achievements, and economic-trade and investment potential of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese business delegation participating in the Expo includes 70 enterprises from provinces and cities such as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, with a total of 130 booths. The exhibited sectors include agriculture and aquaculture products, processed foods, consumer goods, which are advantageous and have export potential in this market area.

With its proximity to four border provinces of Vietnam, Yunnan Province plays a crucial role as a gateway for Vietnamese goods, especially agricultural and aquaculture products, exported to the Southwest China market. According to statistics from Chinese Customs, the import-export turnover between Vietnam and Yunnan Province in the first four months of 2026 reached 916.8 million USD, an increase of 17% compared to the same period; of which, Vietnam's exports to Yunnan alone reached 396.4 million USD, up 58.6% compared to the same period.

The China-South Asia Expo and the Kunming Import and Export Fair are events jointly organized annually by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Government of Yunnan Province in Kunming City. This year's expo will run until June 16, 2026.
