During the meeting, Sunwah Group Chairman Jonathan Choi provided information on Sunwah Group's recent investment activities in Vietnam and Yunnan Province. He outlined the Group's direction in promoting cooperation and investment between Vietnam and Yunnan, focusing on high-tech agriculture, specialized healthcare, artificial intelligence, and robotics manufacturing. He committed to working closely with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Kunming to support businesses on both sides in connecting and seeking investment opportunities.
Chairman Jonathan Choi stated that the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Yunnan is vast, given the accelerated upgrading and completion of infrastructure connectivity between the two sides. Additionally, Yunnan is becoming an important gateway for China to access the Southeast Asian market.
Consul General Nghiem Viet Chung proposed that Sunwah Group collaborate with the Consulate General in connecting cooperation, leveraging the strengths and potential of Vietnamese and Yunnan enterprises, and with localities, especially those in Vietnam bordering Yunnan. He suggested considering the establishment of deep-processing facilities for agricultural products, creating production-supply chains in the border area, anticipating the Lao Cai-Yunnan (Hekou) cross-border economic cooperation zone, and facilitating the opening of rail and highway connections between the two sides in the near future.
The Consul General also suggested considering the implementation of community healthcare activities (medical examinations and treatment for the public, sharing experiences in disease prevention) between Yunnan and northern Vietnamese localities. He emphasized the importance of investing in some community healthcare projects in Vietnam's border provinces, organizing cultural and tourism promotion activities for Vietnam in Yunnan, and urged the Group to continue supporting talented Vietnamese students to study in Yunnan, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's human resource quality.
