The University's President shared that in recent years, educational and training cooperation between Ubon Ratchathani University and Vietnam has grown significantly. So far, both sides have actively implemented 17 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with several prestigious Vietnamese universities, improving education quality in multiple fields. Moving forward, the University plans to award 160 scholarships to Vietnamese students across 84 different majors.

Associate Professor Dr. Kulwadee Lamaichin, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, noted that the number of Thai students choosing to study Vietnamese is steadily increasing. This reflects the younger Thai generation’s growing interest and the deepening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Accordingly, Ubon Ratchathani University hopes to collaborate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to develop Vietnamese language and cultural training programs that can meet the needs of both Thai and international students.

Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh praised the university's interest and goodwill toward cooperation with Vietnam, affirming that such efforts lay an important foundation for educational and cultural collaboration. These initiatives help foster cultural exchange and strengthen people-to-people ties.

According to Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh, special attention to younger generations will contribute positively to the implementation of the newly upgraded Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

The Vietnamese Consulate General stands ready to support and accompany Ubon Ratchathani University in expanding its collaboration with Vietnamese partners, especially with reputable universities experienced in Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese language teaching. Promoting academic exchanges between faculty and students in the social sciences and humanities is a particularly promising area of cooperation that is expected to yield tangible benefits.

Representatives from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen emphasized that the university’s efforts to support the young Thais of Vietnamese origin in Thailand to study the Vietnamese language and culture not only benefit the local Vietnamese community but also strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The Vietnamese side also expressed hope that the university would explore the possibility of educational cooperation in areas of growing interest in Vietnam, such as science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

This working session marked a promising start to a new phase in education cooperation, with practical initiatives to broaden the network of partnerships between universities in both countries. It also tightens and deepens the Vietnam–Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the years ahead.
