The event brought together leaders and representatives of local agencies and organizations that supported the competition as well as a number of the competition winners together with their parents and teachers.
The high artistic quality of the submissions as well as the creative ideas behind them made it very challenging for the judges to select the best paintings. By repurposing discarded materials to create meaningful artworks, I am vcelebrating the beauty of our world and our lives while promoting sustainability".

"Young people play a vital role in shaping our society and driving positive change. In Vietnam, there are countless opportunities for young people to engage in society and make a meaningful impact. One opportunity is the ‘Denmark in Your Eyes – Green Initiatives’ painting competition, which offers Vietnamese students a platform to raise awareness about climate and environmental issues, giving voice to their concerns and showcasing their inspiring initiatives. This contest highlights the deep passion and unwavering commitment of young people in Vietnam to creating a sustainable and green future for all", said Ambassador of Denmark, Mr. Nicolai Prytz, at the award ceremony.
The annual Denmark in Your Eyes competition, running since 2016, has consistently garnered substantial support from elementary and lower secondary school students in Vietnam. This year is no exception, the contest with the theme ‘Green Initiatives’, received more than 24,600 paintings and artworks submitted from over 260 schools and clubs nationwide.
A key area of the long standing and successful cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark is green growth and the transition to a more sustainable society.
The Denmark in Your Eyes painting competition is a unique way to go beyond the existing government-to-government cooperation under the bilateral Green Strategic Partnership, engaging children and young people in Vietnam in the country’s green transition.
The Denmark in Your Eyes 2024 painting contest is co-hosted by the Embassy of Denmark and the Vietnam–Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA) with valuable support from the Ministry of Education and Training, Kim Dong Publishing House, and Thieu Nien Tien Phong and Nhi Dong Newspapers.
The first Denmark in Your Eyes competition took place in 2016 during the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark. The competition has since then been organized every one or two years with a new theme, but always with a strong focus on environmental issues.
