Aligning with the new relationship framework

From the outset of his tenure, the Ambassador's top priority has been to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop and implement plans to realize the agreed contents within the Comprehensive Partnership framework. According to him, this requires a clear roadmap, with an immediate focus on completing the legal framework for bilateral cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, civil aviation, culture, people-to-people exchanges, economy, and trade. Concurrently, efforts are being made to promote bilateral visits and engagements at various levels.

"The establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership framework in August 2025 marks a significant milestone, reflecting the political trust and determination of the leaders of both countries to elevate bilateral relations to a new height. However, the more crucial aspect is how to implement this framework effectively, with a clear roadmap that brings tangible benefits to both sides," he emphasized.

In terms of economic cooperation, Ambassador Hany Hassan assesses that the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Egypt remains vast and underutilized compared to the excellent political relations between the two countries. With its strategic location in the Middle East and North Africa, Egypt is seen as a vital gateway for Vietnamese goods to access larger markets in the region. Conversely, Vietnam is also an attractive destination for Egyptian businesses amid deep international economic integration and an expanding network of free trade agreements.

The Ambassador is deeply committed to his role in supporting businesses. He considers providing information, advice, and support to Vietnamese businesses exploring, investing, and operating in Egypt as one of the Embassy's key tasks in the coming period. According to him, transportation connectivity, especially air and sea routes, plays a crucial role in reducing logistics costs, thereby facilitating trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

In the context of Vietnam and Egypt aiming to raise bilateral trade turnover to 1 billion USD in the future, Ambassador Hassan believes agriculture is one of the standout sectors. "The advantage is that the two countries do not have directly competing crops but rather complementary ones. This opens up many opportunities for cooperation in production, processing, exchanging agricultural products, and technology transfer," he analyzed.

Moreover, Vietnam and Egypt have ample room to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums on issues of mutual concern, thereby adding strategic depth to bilateral relations. Additionally, technology and telecommunications are also seen by the Ambassador as areas with significant cooperation potential, aligning with the strong digital transformation trends occurring in both countries.

Philosophy from water

According to the Egyptian diplomat, people-to-people exchanges are a crucial pillar ensuring the sustainable development of bilateral relations. In the future, the two countries need to enhance the exchange of art troupes and cultural performances, while encouraging each side's participation in cultural events held in the other country. This not only serves as a bridge to enhance mutual understanding but also contributes to promoting the image and cultural identity of each nation.

He also mentioned that both sides are moving towards initiating online discussions between universities, promoting cooperation in education, training, and scientific research. Notably, Egypt will increase the number of Arabic language scholarships for Vietnamese students, thereby contributing to the training of human resources knowledgeable about the language, culture, and the Middle East-North Africa region.

Sharing his personal impressions, Ambassador Hassan expressed deep admiration for the warmth, hospitality, and friendliness of the Vietnamese people. According to him, Vietnam is a dynamic country, full of vitality, with beautiful natural landscapes, diverse cuisine, and a blend of traditional and modern values.

"I have only had the opportunity to visit Hanoi and Da Lat, but they have left me with very positive impressions. I am eager to explore more regions of Vietnam in the future," the Egyptian diplomat shared.

He also quoted a verse from the Qur'an: "And from water, We (God) created every living thing," emphasizing that water is the foundation of all life. According to the Ambassador, the lush greenery and abundant crops of Vietnam are a vivid testament to this philosophy, while also conveying the hope that the cooperative relationship between the two countries will remain resilient, continuous, and sustainable like the refreshing water source.

With the foundation of traditional friendship, political trust, and the shared determination of the leaders of both countries, Ambassador Hassan is confident that the Vietnam-Egypt Comprehensive Partnership will continue to grow robustly, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations and contributing positively to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
