Vietnam aspires to enhance relations with DPRK in a substantive and effective manner: PM Le Minh Hung

WVR - On the afternoon of May 20, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received Ri Sung Guk, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to Vietnam.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung congratulated Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on successfully organizing the 9th Party Congress and the 15th Supreme People's Assembly; he expressed firm belief that under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, headed by General Secretary and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Kim Jong Un, the Government and People of DPRK will successfully achieve the strategic goals set forth by the 9th Congress.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung conveyed his regards to DPRK Cabinet Premier Pak Thae Song and other North Korean leaders; he highly appreciated the efforts of Ambassador Ri Sung Guk and the DPRK Embassy in Vietnam in promoting the traditional friendship between Vietnam and DPRK, especially in successfully coordinating the State visit to DPRK by General Secretary, President To Lam in October 2025, and more recently, the visit to DPRK by Le Hoai Trung, Special Envoy of General Secretary, President To Lam, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Expressing his honor to meet Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Ambassador Ri Sung Guk was pleased to report some outstanding results regarding DPRK's recent socio-economic development and the positive progress in bilateral relations.

The Ambassador affirmed the consistent stance of the Party, State, and people of DPRK in expanding and developing relations between the two countries across all fields, in line with the general orientation and aspirations of the peoples of both countries, as agreed upon during the historic visit to DPRK by General Secretary, President To Lam in October 2025.

Ambassador Ri Sung Guk expressed confidence that the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary, President To Lam, will certainly achieve the goals set at the 14th Party Congress, transforming Vietnam into a developed country.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam always value and aspire to continuously nurture and enhance Vietnam-DPRK relations to develop in a substantive and effective manner in the new era of development, in line with the common aspirations of the peoples of both countries, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The Prime Minister suggested that both sides should closely coordinate to effectively implement the common understanding and agreements reached during the visits of the leaders of the two countries, focusing on continuing to strengthen political trust through promoting high-level and various-level exchanges and visits; effectively maintaining existing cooperation mechanisms, including the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation; and promoting cooperation in agriculture, culture, sports, tourism, education, health, and people-to-people exchanges; actively coordinating and supporting each other at regional and international forums of mutual interest.

Agreeing with the important guiding directions of Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Ambassador Ri Sung Guk affirmed his utmost efforts to contribute to the development of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and DPRK; he hopes the Prime Minister will continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the work of the DPRK Embassy in Vietnam.
