It is within the framework of the project “The Knowledge Express - Each page, a dream” initiated by Nguyen Bao Nghi Anh (born in 2009, student of Phillips Academy Andover) and Nguyen The Anh (born in 2012, student of the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City).
After a year of diligent collection, the project “The Knowledge Express - Each page, a dream” has raised 4 bookshelves with more than 800 diverse and useful book titles to students at 4 schools. The project offered 441 gifts including fresh milk and candy to participating students, including 50 special gifts for stricken students at 4 schools.
Each gift contains a school bag and VND 300,000, which is a great encouragement for the students in their journey of study ahead. Students at the schools participated in socializing activities and experienced fun games with teachers, and talked with Nghi Anh and The Anh. The love of reading is expected to spread, forming a good habit for the students during the upcoming summer vacation months.
The eye-catching mobile bookshelves in the shape of a bus creatively designed and a variety of books selected for the students by the project “The Knowledge Express - Each page, a dream” inspire the love of reading, and create a useful playground during the summer as well, to provide meaningful opportunities and enrich the knowledge of students in a stricken mountainous district.
Nguyen Bao Nghi Anh (a student at Phillips Academy Andover) said: “It is the first time I came to this mountainous district, I am very happy that the books connect me with the local students. The poems and clear stories in each page of the book are the gift of knowledge from the project conveyed to the students. This will be a meaningful memory and time that I will carry with me on my journey of learning and sharing knowledge”.
Nguyen The Anh (born in 2012, studying at the British International School in Ho Chi Minh City) felt nostalgic: A summer is opening for friends, reading books is an interesting playground to explore new knowledge, students of all schools are eager to read and love books, I hope that books would be the place to light up the dreams of students here.
The activity of donating bookmobile is meant to spread the love of reading, members of the project “The Knowledge Express - Each page of a book, a dream” also participated in the experience and exchange activities with brocade weavers in Ha Van Tren village - one of the villages that still preserves the traditional brocade weaving of the Bana people.
This is a practical activity in learning about the exclusive cultural values of the nation, while helping students raise awareness of the preciousness of the traditional crafts. The brocade fabrics hand-woven through generations are not only handicrafts, but also a symbol of the perseverance and love for the craft of the indigenous people. This is also the story told through every page of books and today experienced directly on the land of Binh Dinh.
Teacher Nguyen Huu Thuong (Principal of Canh Thuan School) sent a letter of compliment to students Nguyen Bao Nghi Anh and Nguyen The Anh (founders of the project “The Knowledge Express - Each page, a dream”.
The compliment letter sounds with touching words: “The precious books and 20 scholarships that the two founders of the project gave to students in difficult circumstances in remote mountainous areas are imbued with humanity. The new books, the modest but loving scholarships have added to the students' confidence, encouragement and aspiration in their studies...”
Mingled in project meaningful activities, the students in the mountainous areas of Van Canh District, Binh Dinh Province receive knowledge from books, are inspired to seek knowledge, try to study better, improve themselves and contribute to building a brighter future for their homeland.
