In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Manh Thieu, Deputy Director of the Academy of Finance, affirmed that AI, with its capabilities in natural language processing, big data analysis, and decision support, is gradually becoming a strategic tool in innovating teaching and learning methods, especially in foreign language teaching.
In this context, organizing the conference is a step in implementing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on higher education innovation and digital transformation in education, demonstrating the Academy of Finance's determination to become a pioneer in applying AI in foreign language teaching and developing digital competence for learners.
At the conference, speakers and delegates focused on topics such as: AI applications in teaching and assessing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills; the impact of AI on the roles of lecturers and learners in the digital environment; developing digital competence and professional ethics when using AI in learning; innovating foreign language curricula and teaching methods towards personalization; solutions to enhance foreign language teaching quality in the context of digital transformation; and experiences, models, and practical lessons from within and outside the academy.
In his presentation, Associate Professor Jonathan Newton from Victoria University (New Zealand) highlighted changes in language teaching in the AI era, especially in writing skills. According to Associate Professor Jonathan Newton, elements easily supported by tools like Grammarly, such as grammar and vocabulary, will no longer be the focus. Instead, educators will concentrate on content and communication ability.
Lecturers from the Foreign Language Faculty of the Academy of Finance also shared about Coze, a platform developing AI chatbots for specialized English learning, stating that this tool plays a useful role in supporting students in learning specialized English and showing significant improvement in their test scores.

In the discussion session on AI applications in university-level foreign language teaching, delegates agreed that using AI in learning is necessary but must have clear limits and regulations. In the context of rapidly developing AI technology, education, especially English teaching, is entering a new transformation phase, requiring educational institutions to issue specific policies and guidelines to direct AI applications, helping lecturers and students understand expectations and limitations in the process. Effective and ethical AI integration in education, especially in language teaching, needs to be approached comprehensively and multidimensionally.
Faced with the reality that AI is becoming increasingly prevalent, even causing feelings of “addiction” or fear of “being left behind”, speakers proposed establishing clear policies at the educational institution level; implementing regular training programs for lecturers on digital competence, AI literacy, and ethics; while ensuring transparency and carefully considering ethical factors when applying AI, aiming to innovate methods and personalize the teaching-learning process in foreign languages during the digital transformation era.
The 2025 conference continues the success of previous sessions, attracting a large number of scientists, lecturers, experts, learners, and students from within and outside the Academy of Finance. The submitted presentations reflect serious investment, a spirit of learning, and a desire for innovation in applying AI to teaching and learning foreign languages at the university level.
The works selected for publication in the seminar proceedings demonstrate a multidimensional approach, linking theory with practice, while offering many feasible models and solutions to enhance AI application effectiveness in foreign language teaching. The research results not only hold value for the Academy of Finance but also contribute as a scientific basis for implementing AI in foreign language teaching at Vietnamese higher education institutions.
The conference also serves as a forum for scientists and lecturers to exchange experiences, spread the spirit of innovation in teaching and learning, promote research collaboration, and develop modern training models, aiming to build the Academy of Finance into a pioneering institution in AI application for training and scientific research.
With rich, multidimensional, and highly applicable content, the seminar provides many practical directions and solutions to enhance foreign language teaching quality, develop digital competence, and self-learning capacity for students, contributing to effectively implementing the digital transformation strategy in Vietnamese higher education.
