During the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong expressed gratitude to Minister Abdulla Khaleel for attending this event hosted by Vietnam and conveyed Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung's regards to Minister Abdulla Khaleel.
Expressing delight at the stable and positive development of Vietnam-Maldives friendship over 50 years since establishing diplomatic relations (1975-2025), the Deputy Minister shared that Vietnam seeks to actively explore potential and opportunities for cooperation with the Maldives, contributing to a more substantive relationship between the two countries in the future.
For his part, Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel welcomed Vietnam's impressive socio-economic achievements and expressed a desire to learn from Vietnam's experiences in socio-economic development. He expressed satisfaction that over the past 50 years, the bilateral relationship has remained stable and increasingly strengthened, affirming that the Maldives highly values and wishes to develop relations with Vietnam.

Both sides agreed on the need to promote exchanges of high-level and ministerial visits, establish a dialogue mechanism, and soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between the two Ministries. Based on the potential and strengths in trade, tourism, aquaculture, agriculture, and maritime transport, both sides agreed to actively encourage their respective ministries and sectors to negotiate and sign agreements providing a legal foundation for cooperation in specific fields; further promoting trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides also agreed on the need to continue close cooperation on shared concerns such as responding to climate change and rising sea levels, ensuring safety, security, and freedom of navigation based on international law, particularly UNCLOS 1982; enhancing cooperation and mutual support at multilateral forums, especially within United Nations organizations.
