The current quota for each club is one Asian player and three players from other parts of the world. The additional spot will be earmarked for players from member countries of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) who are members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The K-League organisers said the addition aims to tap new international markets.
In February, Incheon United FC signed Vietnamese player Nguyen Cong Phuong on loan from his club Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC.
