WVR - On December 3, the final round of the "AI Sports" Application Competition China – ASEAN 2025, organized by the General Administration of Sport of China, the Big Data Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the China Smart Sports Technology Innovation Center, took place in Nanning, Guangxi, China.

Nguyen Ngoc Bao, Consul for Science and Technology, represented the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou at the event and participated in the award ceremony of the competition.

The "AI Sports" application competition aims to promote exchange and cooperation in AI application research in sports, health, and life; creating a forum for universities, research institutes, and startups in the region to showcase products, connect resources, and expand international cooperation on AI technology applications in smart sports and social life.

The research team, consisting of two members, Nguyen Van Thang, Master of Electronic Engineering from Hanoi University of Technology, and Tran Thi Mai, Master of Computer Science from Ho Chi Minh City National University, represented Vietnam in the competition with the smart bracelet "Sentinel Ring", winning the second prize in the final round.

"Sentinel Ring" is a product that applies AI technology to monitor heart rate, analyze biometric indicators, locate the wearer in real-time, and issue alerts upon detecting signs of drowning risk.

With its superior features, the Sentinel Ring is particularly suitable for use in swimming pools, water parks, aquatic entertainment centers, and river, lake, and sea resorts, aiding rescue teams in early detection and timely handling of dangerous situations. At the award ceremony, Nguyen Ngoc Bao emphasized that AI is a crucial foundation in fields ranging from healthcare, education, sports, to social governance.

New-generation AI models enable real-time data analysis, personalize experiences, optimize operations, and open up numerous collaboration opportunities among scientists and the younger generation of Vietnam, China, and ASEAN in the coming period.

On the sidelines of the event, Nguyen Ngoc Bao met and exchanged views with representatives from research units, universities, and tech enterprises from Guangxi and ASEAN countries participating in the event about enhancing cooperation in AI startup support programs, scientific research collaboration, short-term training, and connecting business cooperation in high-tech and innovation fields.

The participation and speech by the Consul for Science and Technology from the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou at the "AI Sports" China-ASEAN 2025 competition demonstrate Vietnam's interest in promoting technological cooperation in general and AI technology in particular with China and regional countries.

In the future, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou, specifically the science and technology representative department, will continue to serve as a bridge, accompanying agencies, research institutes, and enterprises of both countries in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. This will contribute to deepening the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in a practical, effective, and sustainable manner.
