Vietnam and Russia enhance coordination at the UN and multilateral forums on human rights

During the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang expressed his pleasure at the continued positive development of the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in various fields such as politics, diplomacy, energy cooperation – oil and gas, education – training, culture, and more.
He emphasized the special significance of General Secretary To Lam's visit to Russia last May in creating new momentum for the development of bilateral relations. The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that since the visit, both sides have engaged in numerous specific cooperation and exchange activities. He stated that activities within the framework of the Cooperation Plan between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for the 2025-2026 period are further tightening cooperation and coordination between the two sides in various fields, including the human rights consultation mechanism that has been ongoing for many years.
The Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted that Vietnam and the Russian Federation share many common perspectives on multilateral cooperation, the United Nations, and human rights, especially within the framework of the Human Rights Council.
On this occasion, Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang thanked Russia for supporting Vietnam's candidacy to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term. He affirmed that Vietnam will continue to play an active, responsible role and contribute positively to the activities of the Human Rights Council through specific, substantive initiatives. The Deputy Minister requested that Russia continue to closely coordinate and support Vietnam's initiatives at the Human Rights Council, as well as collaborate to promote the early entry into force of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, recently signed in Hanoi at the end of October 2025.

Mr. Lukiyantsev expressed his gratitude to Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang for taking the time to meet with the delegation. He highly appreciated Vietnam's proactive, responsible role and increasingly positive contributions to United Nations mechanisms and forums in general, and on human rights in particular. He congratulated and praised Vietnam for successfully organizing the signing ceremony of the Convention on Cybercrime.
Furthermore, Mr. Lukiyantsev affirmed that the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation serve as an important foundation for promoting effective and substantive multilateral cooperation between the two countries. He stated that Russia will continue to closely cooperate and support Vietnam's activities at multilateral forums in general and on human rights in particular, contributing to promoting and enhancing the enjoyment of human rights for the people of both countries and worldwide.
