Needy families in Can Tho city receive housing support
On December 10, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committees of five centrally-run cities presented 10 great solidarity houses to needy households in Co Do district in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The activity was part of efforts to respond to the nationwide movement to join hands in upgrading and rebuilding temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister.
It aimed to assist local disadvantaged households, providing them with stable homes and improving their living conditions, thus enhancing the quality of their life and encouraging them to get rid of poverty sustainably.
Each house, with an area of about 40 sq.m, receives a construction funding of 50 million VND (1,971 VND) from the Fund for the Poor of the five centrally-run cities, namely Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho.
Nguyen Van Trem, a local resident in Thoi Trung hamlet, Co Do town, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his delight at receiving the help, saying that a sturdy house has been a dream of his family for a long time. With the new house, his family now feels more secure and motivated to work harder to increase income.
On this occasion, the five centrally-run cities and local authorities presented gifts to the beneficiary families.
So far this year, using capital from the Fund for the Poor, Can Tho city has built and repaired more than 515 houses for impoverished families, significantly reducing the poverty and near-poverty rates, and improving living standards for residents.
The city aims to complete the elimination of about 1,000 temporary and dilapidated houses by September 2025.
