Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong stated that 2025 marks many significant milestones in the nation's development as the Vietnamese people celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification, and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the country...

According to the Ambassador, despite facing considerable challenges from global and regional situations, Vietnam achieved many remarkable accomplishments in 2025. Under the decisive leadership of the Party and State, Vietnam streamlined its apparatus with a two-tier local government model, reorganized provinces, and restructured the Government apparatus.

Economically, Vietnam continued its rapid and sustainable growth trajectory. The GDP in 2025 is expected to increase by over 8%, with the economy reaching a scale of 510 billion USD, ranking 32nd globally. Foreign direct investment continued to rise, with FDI reaching 185 billion USD from 2021-2025, placing Vietnam among the top 15 developing countries attracting the most FDI worldwide.

Tourism remained a highlight in Vietnam's economic structure, with over 20 million international tourists visiting Vietnam in 2025.

Building on the policy of independent, self-reliant, multilateral, and diversified foreign relations, proactive international integration, and the "four no's" defense policy, Vietnam achieved many outstanding accomplishments in 2025.

To date, Vietnam has officially established diplomatic relations with 195 countries and comprehensive partnership frameworks with 42 countries, including comprehensive strategic partnerships with all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.

Additionally, Vietnam has signed and implemented 17 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with over 60 partners, demonstrating its commitment to trade liberalization, fair competition, and sustainable development.

Regarding bilateral relations, the Ambassador affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bangladesh continues to be strengthened and robustly developed. Economic and trade cooperation remains a highlight in the overall relationship between the two countries, with bilateral trade consistently exceeding 1 billion USD for many years.

Both sides are actively considering a draft Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), mutual recognition of Halal certification, and accelerating the signing of a new agreement on air transport cooperation, laying an important foundation for establishing a direct flight route by 2026.

The Ambassador is confident that the cooperative relationship between the two countries will become increasingly solid, bringing many practical benefits to the people of both nations.

At the meeting, President of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh AKM Moinuddin expressed his respect and special affection for the country and people of Vietnam. He shared that the two countries have many similarities in their history of national liberation struggles and remain close friends, supporting each other in national development and construction.

Representatives of local news agencies and press expressed admiration for Vietnam's significant socio-economic and diplomatic achievements in recent times. They also hope that the direct flight route connecting the two capitals will soon be implemented and look forward to having the opportunity to visit Vietnam to directly explore and experience Vietnamese culture and life.

Local news agencies and press affirmed their appreciation for the excellent cooperative relationship with the Embassky and are ready to accompany and support the Embassy in publishing articles about Vietnam, directly covering important foreign affairs programs and events of the Embassy in the near future.
