Film series celebrating the success of the 14th Party Congress and the 96th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has tasked the Cinema Department to lead, in collaboration with the National Cinema Center, Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and film production units, the organization of a film series celebrating the success of the 14th Party Congress and the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam nationwide.

This film series is a cultural-cinematic activity with profound political and social significance, aimed at celebrating the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party – a major political event of the country in a new development phase.

It also commemorates the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1930-2026), contributing to the promotion of revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, and inspiring solidarity, resilience, and the aspiration for national development among the people.

Within the framework of the film series, the Opening Ceremony will be solemnly held at 7:00 PM on February 3 at the National Cinema Center, 87 Lang Ha, Hanoi. The feature film Echo across the ocean (produced by Film Studio I Joint Stock Company) has been chosen for the Opening Screening.

The film is set in Con Dao prison during 1945-1954, where revolutionary soldiers were imprisoned in this “hell on earth” yet remained steadfast and unyielding, holding firm to their aspiration for freedom for the nation.

The story revolves around Tam, a girl who plays the monochord, tasked by the organization to disguise herself as a nurse to care for and support the prisoners, including Duy, a soldier planning an escape and a sea voyage with his comrades.

Music, especially the sound of the monochord, is used as a symbol of faith, hope, and cultural vitality amidst the prison's hardships. The film conveys a message about the value of peace and freedom, earned through the blood and tears of previous generations, while aiming to connect history with today's youth.

The film program at the National Cinema Center during the series includes feature films: Echo Across the Ocean, Aerial battle, Tunnel – Sun in the aarkness, The golden key, The scent of burning grass, and Thau Chin in Siam. The National Cinema Center will distribute free tickets to audiences for these films starting at 8:30 AM on January 31.

In addition to free screenings for audiences at the National Cinema Center, the Cinema Department, in collaboration with Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Film Distribution and Screening System, Cultural-Cinematic Centers, and Cultural-Art Centers in provinces and centrally-run cities, will distribute state-funded films to serve the public nationwide, primarily through mobile screenings, with a separate list of feature films, documentaries, and animated films.
