Hanoi opens Russian Cultural Days with performances by the Omsk Folk Choir

WVR - On the evening of March 23, the opening ceremony of the Russian Cultural Days in Vietnam 2026 was held solemnly at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace, Hanoi.

The program was attended by Central Party Committee members: Deputy Minister of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang; Deputy Minister of Justice Phan Chi Hieu, Chairman of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association; and President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Tran Hong Thai.

Also present were leaders from the Russian Embassy in Vietnam; leaders from various Vietnamese ministries and departments; ambassadors and representatives from embassies in Hanoi, along with a large audience of Vietnamese and Russians.

The Russian Cultural Days in Vietnam 2026 is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Russian Embassy in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Malyshev Andrey Vladimirovich affectionately referred to Vietnam as a “brotherly country”, emphasizing that 2025 marks a symbolic milestone with 75 years of diplomatic relations, paving the way for positive cultural cooperation in all aspects.

According to Deputy Minister Malyshev Andrey Vladimirovich, cultural cooperation between the two countries is thriving across all fields. Organizing large-scale artistic festivals as exchanges is an indispensable part of this cooperation.

“Activities within the framework of the Russian Cultural Days in Vietnam will offer the public unforgettable experiences and significantly contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two nations,” the Deputy Minister affirmed.

Sharing at the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong also affirmed that culture always serves as a sustainable bridge, enhancing understanding and strengthening the loyal bonds between the people of the two countries.

Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong believes that with the strong foundation in bilateral relations, the implementation of the 2025-2027 Cultural Cooperation Program, and the Russian Cultural Days in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, this cultural event is significant in introducing the Vietnamese public to the unique values of Russia's rich cultural heritage.

Immediately following the opening ceremony, the performance by the Omsk Russian Folk Choir themed “Siberian Heirs” brought a rich artistic space full of Russian national cultural identity.

The program continued with traditional folk songs, famous melodies, and distinctive folk dances like the “Omsk Folk Dance”, “Kupalenka Song”, and “Improvisation on Russian Folk Tunes”, along with performances combining choir, ballet, and orchestra, vividly portraying the life and soul of the Siberian people.

Through the harmonious combination of music, dance, and traditional costumes, the program not only honors the long-standing cultural values of Russia but also conveys messages of homeland love, national pride, and the aspiration to preserve cultural heritage.

Additionally, the “Russian Cultural Heritage” exhibition at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace attracted numerous visitors, showcasing around 30 photographic works of Russia's cultural and natural heritage recognized by UNESCO.

The exhibition also introduced applied art products, handicrafts, and some traditional Russian costumes, providing the Vietnamese public with more opportunities to learn about Russia's history, people, and cultural identity.

Taking place from March 23-27 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace (Hanoi) and the Military Theater (Ho Chi Minh City), the Russian Cultural Days in Vietnam 2026 is one of the activities to implement the results of General Secretary Tô Lâm's visit to Russia (May 2025) and the Vietnam-Russia Cultural Cooperation Program for 2025-2027.
