Entrepreneur Nguyen Hoa Chinh: Preserving authentic coffee, elevating Vietnamese coffee

Amid the fertile coffee-growing highlands of Dak Ha, a region widely recognized for producing some of Vietnam’s finest coffee, one entrepreneur has spent more than two decades pursuing a mission that appears simple but requires long-term persistence: bringing Vietnamese consumers back to the authentic taste of real coffee.

That entrepreneur is Nguyen Hoa Chinh, widely regarded by partners and coffee enthusiasts as the man who breathed life into the Dak Ha Coffee brand—a business built upon authenticity, quality, and a deep respect for Vietnam’s coffee heritage. Dak Ha Coffee currently operates from its headquarters at 35 Duong 24/3 Street, Dak Ha, Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam.

Having spent years working closely with Vietnam’s coffee industry, Nguyen Hoa Chinh witnessed a paradox that deeply concerned him: although Vietnam ranks among the world’s leading coffee-producing and exporting nations, domestic consumers often struggle to find a truly authentic cup of coffee.

How Dak Ha Coffee was founded…

For years, portions of the market became accustomed to heavily roasted, artificially flavored, or blended coffee products enhanced with additives to create stronger color, foam, and bitterness. Over time, these practices gradually changed public perceptions of what authentic coffee should taste like of what “real coffee” should taste like and weakened trust in traditional Vietnamese drip coffee culture. At the same time, Dak Ha—recognized as one of Vietnam’s prominent coffee-growing regions—continued to develop sustainable production standards and coffee quality improvement initiatives.

Driven by these concerns, Nguyen Hoa Chinh founded the Dak Ha Coffee brand in 2010 with a clear and uncompromising philosophy: to produce coffee that is pure, transparent, and faithful to the natural characteristics of coffee beans.

Rather than relying on aggressive marketing campaigns or short-term market trends, Dak Ha Coffee chose a more demanding path—earning trust through consistency, product integrity, and long-term commitment to quality. For more than 15 years, the company has steadily developed its reputation by prioritizing honesty in production and consumer trust above all else. The brand has consistently emphasized helping consumers rediscover authentic coffee through transparent sourcing and quality standards.

Nguyen Hoa Chinh’s vision extends beyond traditional roasted coffee. Recognizing the evolving needs of consumers, Dak Ha Coffee has pursued product innovation while maintaining the essence of Vietnamese coffee culture.

Beginning in 2012, the company expanded into clean instant coffee products, emphasizing premium quality over low-cost mass production. Arabica beans sourced from the Boloven Highlands in Laos were selected to create products designed to preserve natural flavor and purity.

A major milestone came in 2021 with the development of Coffee blended with Ngoc Linh Dang Sam, an innovative product combining Dak Ha Coffee with Ngoc Linh Dang Sam, a prized herbal ingredient associated with Vietnam’s mountainous regions. According to the company’s development philosophy, this product reflects an effort to create greater added value from regional agricultural specialties while preserving coffee’s original identity. Public coverage of Dak Ha Coffee has similarly highlighted the company’s emphasis on health-conscious, transparent coffee products.

At the heart of Nguyen Hoa Chinh’s business philosophy lies a simple but powerful belief: safeguarding the future of Vietnamese coffee does not mean resisting modern coffee culture or competing against espresso-based trends. Instead, it means rebuilding consumer trust through three essential values:

Purity. Transparency. Authenticity.

To bring this philosophy into practice, Dak Ha Coffee has invested in a controlled production system that oversees every stage—from raw material selection to final packaging. The company combines traditional roasting expertise with modern processing technologies, including cold-drying applications and gradual semi-automation in roasting, blending, and packaging to maintain product consistency and improve traceability. Sustainable production and quality control remain central to the company’s long-term direction.

Recognition for Quality and Innovation

Throughout its development journey, Dak Ha Coffee has earned recognition through multiple awards and certifications, including honors related to public health contributions, UTZ certification, National outstanding rural industrial product award (2017), Selected as a serving coffee brand at the 2019 U.S.–North Korea summit in Hanoi, and various brand quality recognitions in recent years. In 2023, the brand was recognized for its community health orientation and brand identity initiatives.

For Nguyen Hoa Chinh, however, these achievements are not merely milestones of success; they represent responsibility—the responsibility to preserve quality, maintain public trust, and continue contributing to the reputation of Vietnamese coffee.

Vietnam’s coffee market has increasingly shifted toward transparency, traceability, and health-conscious consumption, especially among younger consumers seeking more authentic coffee experiences, Nguyen Hoa Chinh believes the future of Vietnam’s coffee industry lies not only in export volume but also in cultural value, sustainability, and authenticity.

“A journey for authentic coffee, against imitation products, and toward inspiration” is more than a brand slogan. It reflects the enduring mission of entrepreneur Nguyen Hoa Chinh: a quiet yet determined effort to preserve the authentic taste of Vietnamese coffee while elevating the reputation of Dak Ha Coffee on both domestic and international markets.
