Connecting the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria through the Hung Kings Commemoration and National Reunification Day

WVR - On April 26, in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Association in Bulgaria, organized the Hung Kings' Commemoration and celebration of the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975–April 30, 2026), and International Labor Day on May 1.

The event took place in a solemn, warm atmosphere rich in national identity, attracting a large number of leaders, representatives of associations, Bulgarian friends, and the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria.

The event began with a solemn offering ceremony attended by delegations such as the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria, the Vietnamese Association, the Business Association, the Women's Association, the Youth-Student Association, the Lotus Club, the Culture-Sports Club, and the Vietnamese Golf Club...

The delegations respectfully offered tributes to the Hung Kings, expressing deep gratitude to the ancestors while demonstrating the strong bond of the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria always looking towards their national roots.

In a solemn atmosphere, Nguyen Van De, former President of the Vietnamese Association in Bulgaria, delivered a tribute to the spirits of the Hung Kings and the ancestors.

The tribute expressed sincere gratitude for the ancestors' contributions to building and defending the nation, affirming that despite being far from the homeland, the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria always looks towards their roots. It also emphasized the nation's tradition of patriotism, unity, resilience, and pride in the country's achievements in development and integration.

Before the ancestors' spirits, the community pledged to continue the tradition, preserve cultural identity, strengthen solidarity, contribute to the homeland, and foster the friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria. They also prayed for national prosperity, peace, and good health for the overseas Vietnamese community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet emphasized the sacred meaning and continuous connection of three important milestones in national history – from nation-building, safeguarding the country to developing and advancing the nation in the new era.

The Ambassador affirmed that the Hung Kings' Commemoration is an occasion to express gratitude to the ancestors and reiterated President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: “The Hung Kings founded the nation, and we must together defend it.”

The Great Spring Victory of 1975 was mentioned as a symbol of the aspiration for independence, freedom, and national unity, while International Labor Day on May 1 honors the value of creative labor – the foundation for the country's sustainable development.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the role of the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria in preserving cultural identity and actively contributing to the friendship between the two countries. Affirming that the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria is an inseparable part of the nation, the Ambassador emphasized the community's role as a bridge in strengthening Vietnam-Bulgaria relations, urging them to continue promoting solidarity, preserving cultural identity, and always looking towards the homeland.

On behalf of the community, Le Minh Son, Vice President of the Vietnamese Association in Bulgaria, expressed emotion as the community gathered on the National Day of the Hung Kings' Commemoration – a symbol of the moral principle “When drinking water, remember its source”. He emphasized that despite living far from the homeland, the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria always remains connected to their roots; this is an occasion to pay tribute to the Hung Kings and strengthen solidarity.

Referring to the April 30th Liberation Day, he highlighted that it is not only a source of national pride but also a profound reminder of the value of peace and the resilient spirit of the Vietnamese people. He also acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria in integration and development; expressed gratitude for the support of the Embassy and affirmed the determination to continue preserving cultural identity, the Vietnamese language, and actively contributing to the homeland and fostering Vietnam-Bulgaria friendship.

After the ceremony, the delegates enjoyed a special cultural program praising the homeland and the country and engaged in culinary exchanges in a warm atmosphere. Especially, under the warm sunshine, children enthusiastically participated in many lively traditional games, adding vibrancy and cultural richness to the event.

The event left many good impressions, contributing to strengthening the connection within the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria and spreading the beautiful traditional values of the Vietnamese nation in Bulgaria.
