This event follows the success of the first Friendship Football Tournament held in 2025 and is a focal point in the series of events celebrating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026). It demonstrates the Embassy's concern for the spiritual life of the Vietnamese community in Mozambique while promoting the image of a dynamic, peace-loving, and friendly Vietnam to Mozambican friends.
This year's tournament gathered six teams from the Vietnamese community in Mozambique and local ministries and organizations, including the Mozambique Liberation Front Party, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Transformation.

On the same day, April 24, the Embassy solemnly organized the 51st Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The ceremony was attended by ambassadors, representatives of the Vietnamese Representative Missions and international organizations in Maputo, all the football teams participating in the second Friendship Football Tournament, and a large number of Vietnamese community members in Mozambique and local friends.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin recalled the historical significance of April 30, 1975 – a milestone that opened a new era of independence, reunification, and strong development for Vietnam, while also highlighting the great achievements that the Party, state, and people of Vietnam have achieved over the past 51 years. The Ambassador particularly emphasized the similarities between Vietnam and Mozambique in their history of fighting for independence and the aspiration for self-reliance. The Ambassador expressed confidence in the strong partnership and committed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique will continue to be a bridge to promote bilateral cooperation increasingly in-depth and effectively.
