The International Culinary Culture Festival 2025, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will take place from November 22-23 at the Diplomatic Corps, 298 Kim Ma, Van Phuc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.

With the theme "Trip of Flavors", this annual event is expected to promote cultural and culinary exchanges, with increasing participation from embassies, foreign cultural centers, provincial foreign affairs departments, businesses, and units within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam shared with The World and Vietnam Report the significance of this special event.

What distinctive dishes will the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam introduce at the International Culinary Culture Festival 2025? What special significance do these dishes hold in Chinese culture and history?

The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam places great importance on preparing for this year's International Culinary Culture Festival, arranging for national-level Chinese chefs to prepare the traditional specialty of Northern Shaanxi - "Rou Jia Mo".

This dish is famous for its crispy bread and aromatic meat filling, with a history of over 2,000 years, originating from the Qin Dynasty, and involves a meticulous preparation process. It is not only a delicious dish but also a cultural heritage, rich in the identity of Shaanxi and the flavors of Western China.

Additionally, the Chinese Embassy is actively collaborating with the Chinese Cultural Center in Hanoi and Chinese businesses investing in Vietnam to bring special dishes such as Yunnan's Crossing-the-Bridge Noodles and stinky tofu, Northen cold noodles, hand-pulled noodles, and dumplings, showcasing the culinary fusion of Northern and Southern China as well as the spirit of ethnic harmony and the inheritance of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.

Moreover, the globally renowned beverage brand Mixue will also participate in this year's culinary event, offering high-quality tea, fresh fruit juices, ice cream, and coffee at affordable prices.

How does the Embassy assess the scale and importance of this year's International Culinary Culture Festival? What are the differences compared to last year?

The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam consistently values promoting the ever-growing friendship between China and Vietnam and actively supports activities organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic corps.

During the preparation for the International Culinary Culture Festival, we noticed that this year's scale will be larger, with more diverse and abundant dishes compared to the previous year.

Food is the primary necessity of the people, and culinary arts are a crucial bridge for cultural exchange, capable of breaking down language and cultural barriers, enhancing friendship and understanding between nations.

The International Culinary Culture Festival has become a new bridge for dialogue and exchange between civilizations, enriching the culinary experience of the Vietnamese people and enhancing the cultural and tourism image of Hanoi.

By gathering culinary excellence from around the world, attendees can experience a "global taste journey" right in Hanoi.

After this year's International Culinary Culture Festival, what plans does the embassy have to continue promoting Chinese cuisine to the Vietnamese people?

Cuisine is a gateway to understanding China and Chinese culture. Many Vietnamese people begin to learn about China through Chinese dishes, and their love for Chinese cuisine gradually leads to an appreciation of Chinese culture.

China and Vietnam share cultural similarities, both believing that cuisine is not just for sustenance but also an art form – emphasizing color, taste, and presentation; a cultural form – carrying deep meanings; and a philosophy of life, reflecting the spirit of "harmony without uniformity" of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.

The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam will continue to contribute to promoting culinary cultural exchanges between China and Vietnam, helping the people of both countries understand each other better and strengthen bonds through familiar flavors.

According to Global Times, the Shaanxi Rou Jia Mo – a soft flatbread sliced open and filled with fragrant, tender, and juicy minced meat, along with unique spices and sauces – has become a delicious, satisfying snack that pleases the taste buds of locals and tourists along the Silk Road.

Yunnan's Crossing-the-Bridge Noodles is a dish that symbolizes marital love and showcases the skill and delicacy of Yunnan cuisine.

Yunnan stinky tofu is a famous and distinctive street food made from fermented tofu, offering a rich and nutritious flavor. It is mainly deep-fried and served with minced garlic, vinegar, cilantro, scallions, and spicy chili.

Cold noodles typically feature chewy noodles and rich sauces combined with vegetables and other accompaniments, offering sour, spicy, sweet, or rich flavors.

Dumplings are made from wheat flour wrappers filled with meat or vegetables, then steamed, boiled, fried, or served in soup. This dish symbolizes reunion and good fortune.
