International Culinary Culture Festival 2025: Where the fundraising numbers tell a story of compassion

WVR - Taking place amid the backdrop of Vietnam's Central and Central Highlands regions suffering losses due to natural disasters, the International Culinary Culture Festival 2025, themed “Joining Hands to Support People Overcoming Storms and Floods”, embodies the spirit of solidarity and community responsibility among diplomats, businesses, and international friends in Vietnam.

The choice of the theme “Joining Hands to Support People Overcoming Typhoons and Floods” for this year's Festival holds particularly profound significance. Through the Festival, the message of humanity, solidarity, and mutual support is strongly conveyed. It also reaffirms social responsibility, inspiring each organization and individual to take practical actions towards those in need.

Not only does it carry the goodwill of the domestic community, but the participation of diplomatic agencies and international friends also highlights the meaning and borderless solidarity. All activities at the event aim to support the regions severely impacted by storms and floods, helping residents overcome difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives.

With this spirit, the charity fund raised after the event reached an impressive amount: 1,260,000,000 VND. During the Festival, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam directly donated 200,000,000 VND in cash. Additionally, Ambassador He Wei affirmed that the Chinese Government will support 500,000 USD to help localities overcome the aftermath, demonstrating friendship and sharing in difficult times.

After the event, the organizers and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front presented five gifts, each worth 150 million, and five clean water projects to the provinces of Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Hue, and Ha Tinh.

Although this year's event has concluded, the “numbers of compassion” continue to rise. Embassies, units within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local Departments of External Relations, and prominent businesses like Masan Group (donating over 100,000,000 VND) are actively sending money and goods to the organizers. This demonstrates the powerful impact of the Festival, turning culinary arts into a driving force to strengthen solidarity and support people in overcoming challenges.

Sharing at the event, Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai affirmed: “The people of Malaysia always stand with the people and Government of Vietnam. We believe that together we will overcome difficulties and become stronger.”

For his part, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki praised the International Culinary Culture Festival as a highly meaningful initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Vietnam. The Japanese Ambassador emphasized that this year's event is more significant and important than ever, as all participating units demonstrate solidarity with the flood-affected people suffering severe damage from prolonged natural disasters.

“In this context, expressing sharing, cooperation, and compassion with those affected by natural disasters is extremely necessary,” Ambassador Ito Naoki expressed confidence.

Moreover, the participation of many Departments of External Relations and local representative agencies created a diverse, friendly, and meaningful culinary space, vividly reflecting the spirit of solidarity and mutual support among the people and the nation.

Ms. Nong Thi Yen, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Department of External Relations of Cao Bang province, shared: “This year, we are not selling for any other purpose; we are selling to raise funds for the organizers' charity fund. If we sell a lot, we even want to allocate a portion to organize support activities locally. This year, Cao Bang was heavily affected by floods, so everyone is working with a spirit of sharing.”

Through the shared compassion at the Festival, this year's event, with its deeply humanitarian message, hopes to contribute both materially and spiritually to the people in typhoon-affected areas, helping them gradually overcome difficulties, recover, and return to normal life.

The International Culinary Culture Festival 2025, organized by the Serviec Department for Diplomatic Corps in collaboration with units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took place in Hanoi over two days, November 22-23. The event gathered a large number of Embassies, Consulates, Foreign Cultural Centers, local Departments of External Relations, and major enterprises, showcasing a unique cultural culinary exchange space, timely directed towards a common humanitarian goal.
