Celebrating Vietnam's National Day in Indonesia: Promoting connectivity and sustainable development
WVR - On September 16, in Jakarta, the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia organized the 81st National Day celebration, with the participation of numerous international friends, contributing to promoting cooperation in digital economy, energy transition, high-tech agriculture, Halal industry, maritime cooperation, and many other fields.

The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Indonesian Regional Representative Council Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, along with several Indonesian officials, numerous international friends, and the Vietnamese community living and working in Indonesia.
In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong recalled the historic milestone of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square.
According to the Ambassador, Vietnam's 81-year journey marks significant challenges as well as important achievements. From a poor and underdeveloped country, Vietnam has become a large-scale, open economy and an active, responsible member of the international community.
Additionally, Vietnam is promoting economic growth based on new development drivers such as science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Referring to Vietnam-Indonesia relations, Ambassador Ta Van Thong stressed that bilateral relations are developing well on the foundation of political trust and increasingly substantive cooperation, especially after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2025.
The two countries are expanding cooperation in defense, security, combating transnational crime, while also promoting cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, education, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, transportation connectivity, and direct flights.

There is also significant potential in new areas such as the electric vehicle ecosystem, energy transition, green economy, digital economy, high-tech agriculture, Halal industry, maritime cooperation, and sustainable fisheries.
In terms of economy, the Ambassador emphasized that, based on the achievements already made, the two countries are aiming for a bilateral trade target of 18 billion USD by 2028.
Large-scale investment projects, including the VinFast electric car factory in Subang and projects by Ciputra Group in Vietnam, are expected to create ripple effects for supporting industries and bilateral trade.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always remembers the support and assistance of the Indonesian Government and people during the struggle for independence and in the current national development, considering it a valuable foundation for the two countries to continue building friendly relations and cooperation for the peace and prosperity of both nations.

The Minister emphasised that Indonesia and Vietnam share many similarities. Both countries are Southeast Asian nations with a history of fighting for independence, rich cultures, and a shared emphasis on autonomy, cooperation, and regional solidarity.
The ceremony took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere. Delegates raised their glasses together, wishing for Vietnam's continued development and prosperity, for the Indonesia-Vietnam friendship to grow stronger, and for the people of both nations to enjoy increasing prosperity and happiness.
The celebration also served as an occasion for meetings and exchanges between government representatives, the diplomatic corps, businesses, international friends, and the Vietnamese community in Indonesia, contributing to enhanced understanding, people-to-people connections, and laying further groundwork for the continued expansion of the Vietnam-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the future.
