According to Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong, frequent high-level exchanges and contacts have contributed to strengthening political trust and enhancing the bond between the leaders of the two countries, while also laying an important foundation for promoting deeper, more substantive, and effective bilateral cooperation.
Emphasising the core role of the relationship between the two Parties in guiding the development of bilateral relations, the Deputy Minister expressed a desire for both sides to continue enhancing cooperation across all channels, especially the Party channel. Based on proposals made during the 2025 Cambodia National Day celebration, he suggested promoting cooperation between localities of the two Parties, as well as between the Party Committee of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the External Relations Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP).
Alongside political cooperation, defence and security remain crucial pillars, while economic and trade cooperation has seen positive developments. Bilateral trade turnover in the first nine months of 2026 reached USD 9.5 billion, an increase of 8.6% compared to the same period in 2025, reaffirming the role of economic cooperation in the overall bilateral relationship.
The Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the positive outcomes achieved in meetings and phone calls between high-level leaders of the two countries, especially between General Secretary, President To Lam and Cambodian People's Party President, Senate President Hun Sen; between Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Prime Minister Hun Manet, will soon be concretized into practical cooperation programs and activities.
Through these efforts, the two countries will continue to foster a good-neighbourly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive and long-term sustainable cooperation, for the practical benefits of the people of both nations, while also contributing positively to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
