Recently, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, under Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized the Launch Ceremony of the Vietnamese Language Day in the overseas Vietnamese community and the Program to Find Vietnamese Language Ambassadors Abroad in 2026.
The event was chaired by Committee Chairman Nguyen Trung Kien, with the participation of about 40 representatives from various ministries, departments, language and cultural experts, overseas Vietnamese, and a large number of journalists.
The program was connected online to over 150 locations both domestically and internationally, including localities, Vietnamese Representative Missions abroad, associations, and Vietnamese language teaching institutions worldwide.
In the opening clip, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that in recent years, the Vietnamese Language Day has spread widely within the overseas Vietnamese community, contributing to strengthening cultural identity and connecting the younger generation with their homeland. The Deputy Minister hopes that the Vietnamese language will continue to be preserved and passed down through generations, becoming a cultural bridge and a channel for promoting Vietnam's image to the world.

One of the key highlights of the program is the launch of the Vui hoc tieng Viet book series (Volumes 1 and 2), implemented by the Global Network for Teaching Vietnamese Language and Culture, with a presentation by Professor Nguyen Minh Thuyet.
This is a set of materials developed from the practical needs of the overseas Vietnamese community, especially children born and raised in multilingual environments.
The book series is designed with a roadmap: Volume 1 is for children who do not know Vietnamese and the Latin alphabet, approaching through oral methods as in the family. Volume 2 continues to develop listening and speaking skills while beginning to learn reading and writing.
A standout feature of the book series is its flexible structure, combining a system of themes and sample sentences, with 20 lessons including 15 main lessons and 5 review lessons.
The content of each lesson is designed vividly with sections on vocabulary, dialogue, reading practice, writing practice, and the "Fun Vietnamese" section that helps students apply through songs and games.
Not only limited to printed books, the materials are also digitized with QR codes, allowing teachers and students to access pronunciation, dialogue, songs, and writing practice content in a modern and intuitive way.
Notably, before the official launch, the book series was tested through training programs for hundreds of teachers both domestically and internationally, receiving positive feedback from teachers and parents in many countries such as Switzerland and Malaysia.

The emergence of the Vui hoc tieng Viet book series is not just an educational product but also reflects the increasingly clear role of the Global Network for Teaching Vietnamese Language and Culture in connecting and supporting the community.
Through the network, Vietnamese language classes in many countries are linked, sharing materials and teaching methods, gradually forming an ecosystem that supports Vietnamese language learning for overseas Vietnamese.
From the Fukuoka (Japan) location, Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, General Secretary of the network, emphasized: “The Vietnamese language ambassador is not just a title, but a responsibility to spread, connect, and preserve the Vietnamese language within the community. As long as Vietnamese is used, the cultural identity of Vietnam will be maintained.”
According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh, teaching Vietnamese abroad requires an appropriate approach, where the most important factor is creating an environment for Vietnamese to become a part of life, rather than just a subject.
The reality in Fukuoka shows that with the support of the community, parents, and organizations, teaching and learning Vietnamese can develop more sustainably and effectively.
From the book series to a long-term journey
The launch of the "Vui hoc tieng Viet" book series (Volumes 1 and 2) marks an important transition: From individual efforts to a systematic and structured approach in teaching and learning Vietnamese abroad.
More importantly, this is not just the story of a book series, but part of a long-term strategy to preserve and promote Vietnamese cultural identity within the overseas Vietnamese community.
In the context of globalization, where cultural values are easily assimilated, Vietnamese becomes a "fulcrum" for every Vietnamese person, wherever they are, to connect with their roots.
And from small classes and simple books, a great journey is being continued – the journey of preserving Vietnamese as a living heritage of the nation.
Also within the program, the song "Tieng Viet trong tim con" composed by former Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai, and set to music by musician-rapper Ly Thien Anh Tri, was introduced as a special cultural highlight.
Not just an artistic work, the song contributes to spreading the love for the Vietnamese language, evoking emotions and pride in the younger generation of overseas Vietnamese.
Implementing Vietnamese Language teaching training courses
From April to June 2026, to continue spreading the Vietnamese Language Day deeply within the overseas Vietnamese community, the Global Network for Teaching Vietnamese Language and Culture will coordinate with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to implement a direct promotion plan, as well as organize training programs on Vietnamese teaching methods for teachers and students in the overseas Vietnamese community in key areas such as Taiwan (China), Republic of Korea, Japan, Laos, Thailand, European countries, and Australia.
The series of activities is expected to be a practical step, contributing to improving the quality of Vietnamese teaching and learning, as well as creating sustainable momentum for preserving the Vietnamese language and cultural identity globally.
