A warm Mid-Autumn Festival celebration for the Vietnamese community in Sakai, Japan
WVR - On the evening of September 20, in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, the Vietnamese community in Sakai, in coordination with Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School, organised a Mid-Autumn Festival programme for Vietnamese children living and studying in the area.

The programme was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Chief of Office of the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Osaka; Ms. Le Thuong, President of the Association of Vietnamese People in the Kansai Region and Principal of Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School; Mr. Ngo Thanh Minh, Head of the Organising Committee; as well as a large number of parents, students and Vietnamese community members in Sakai.
More than 100 students and their families took part in the programme in a joyful and warm atmosphere imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity.
The programme opened with a lively lion dance, creating a festive Mid-Autumn atmosphere and bringing laughter and excitement to the children. Students from Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School also performed a range of cultural and musical performances, including songs about the Mid-Autumn Festival and their homeland, demonstrating their confidence, innocence and affection for the Vietnamese language.
The children also took part in group games, socialised with their friends and, in particular, enjoyed a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival feast, bringing families and the community together. Mooncakes, the festive feast and the children's laughter created a warm and intimate celebration for the Vietnamese community living far from home.

Speaking at the programme, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Chief of Office of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka, commended the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Sakai and Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School in organising meaningful activities for children. He stressed that the event was not only an opportunity for children to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, but also contributed to helping younger generations of Vietnamese in Japan preserve the Vietnamese language, gain a better understanding of their culture and traditions, and maintain their connection with their homeland and roots.
Mr. Ngo Thanh Minh, Head of the Organising Committee, said the Mid-Autumn Festival programme was organised to provide Vietnamese children in Sakai with an opportunity to play, meet friends and experience the traditional atmosphere of the Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival in Japan.
Ms. Le Thuong, Principal of Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School, said organising traditional cultural activities for Vietnamese children in Japan was an important part of Vietnamese-language education and the preservation of cultural identity. Events such as the Mid-Autumn Festival help children gain a better understanding of national customs and traditions and strengthen their affection for Viet Nam.
The presence of representatives from the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Osaka, together with a large number of parents and students, helped make the Mid-Autumn Festival in Sakai a meaningful community event, strengthening solidarity and bonds among Vietnamese people in Japan.
The celebration concluded with laughter and joy among the children, leaving them with fond memories of a Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival in the heart of Japan.
