Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival – Strengthening the Vietnamese community in RoK's Incheon

Attending the program were Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai Binh, Minister Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea; Ms. Moon Mi-hee, Chairwoman of the Gyeyang District Council; Mr. Lee Hoon, President of the Hwasan Lee Clan Association in the Republic of Korea; along with representatives from various departments, organizations in Incheon City, and a large number of Vietnamese residents and children in the area.
In her speech at the event, Minister Counselor Nguyen Thi Thai Binh extended her greetings and wishes for a joyful and warm Mid-Autumn Festival to all attendees, especially the children. She emphasised that the Mid-Autumn Festival is not only a celebration for children but also an occasion for the overseas Vietnamese community to meet, connect, and preserve the beautiful cultural and traditional values of the nation.

The Minister Counselor affirmed that the Party, State, and Vietnamese Embassy always care for and support the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea, including those in Incheon. The Embassy hopes the community will continue to promote solidarity, mutual support, comply with local laws, integrate positively, and maintain a connection to their homeland.
Particularly, Minister Counselor Nguyen Thi Thai Binh urged families and community organizations to pay more attention to the younger generation, creating opportunities for children in Vietnamese-Korean families to study, develop, and integrate well into Korean society while maintaining the Vietnamese language and understanding of Vietnamese history, culture, and traditions. According to her, these children will be important bridges of friendship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea in the future.
On this occasion, Minister Counselor Nguyen Thi Thai Binh expressed thanks to the Korean delegates and Incheon City authorities for their support of the Vietnamese community over the past time. She also expressed hope that the city will continue to create favourable conditions, especially concerning the education, living, and development of Vietnamese children in the locality.
Following this, Ms. Pham Thi Gai, President of the Vietnamese Association in Incheon City, thanked Minister Counselor Nguyen Thi Thai Binh, representatives of the Gyeyang District Council, and the large number of Vietnamese residents and children who attended the program.

Emphasising that the event is not only an occasion for unity and connection to the homeland but also carries deep humanitarian significance, Pham Thi Gai announced the official launch of a fundraising campaign for the “Dormitory for Children” project. The project is expected to be implemented from June to September 2027 in the area of Nam Mau Primary and Secondary School, Ba Be, Bac Kan, now part of Thai Nguyen Province.
Affirming that sharing is a meaningful gift from expatriates to their homeland, the President of the Vietnamese Association in Incheon City called on delegates, benefactors, and the community to join hands in support, contributing to the early construction of a safe and warm home for the children in the highlands, supporting their dreams of attending school.
Also at the event, Lee Hoon, President of the Hwasan Lee Clan Association in the Republic of Korea, expressed his honour to attend and share the warm atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 with the Vietnamese community in Incheon. He thanked the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea for their attention and emphasized that the Mid-Autumn Festival is a special occasion for people of both countries to focus on family and homeland.

Recalling the historical connection spanning 800 years, starting in 1226 when the clan's ancestor, Prince Ly Long Tuong of the Ly Dynasty in Vietnam, settled in Goryeo, Lee Hoon affirmed that generations of descendants, while building new lives in the Republic of Korea, always maintain their roots and affection for their homeland, Vietnam.
On this occasion, Yoo Dong-soo, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and Chairman of the National Policy Committee, sent a congratulatory letter to the program. In the letter, he highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community to the economic, social life, and cultural diversity of Incheon City; he extended his wishes for a joyful and happy Mid-Autumn Festival to the children and expressed hope for the continued development of friendly relations and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

Yoo Dong-soo also emphasised the importance of recognizing immigrants and multicultural families as equal members, sharing that the Government of the Republic of Korea is increasing the budget for social integration and settlement support programs, reflecting its interest in multicultural policies in the Republic of Korea.

The program took place in a joyful and warm atmosphere with many cultural exchanges, entertainment activities, lantern parades, and feasting, contributing to a meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival for the children. It also strengthened the bonds within the Vietnamese community in Incheon, the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
