WVR - On August 5, the outstanding contestants of the Vietnamese Oratory Contest 2026 officially arrived in Hanoi, marking the beginning of the "Journey to the Roots – Following Uncle Ho's Footsteps" series of activities.

The first stop for the group was the special national relic Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, a symbol of the Vietnamese tradition of valuing education and respecting teachers.

In the ancient space, the contestants and their parents respectfully offered incense at the Dien Dai Thanh, expressing gratitude to the ancestors and those who contributed to the country's educational foundation.

Here, they were introduced to the history of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, the development of Vietnam's education and examination system through different periods, as well as the significance of iconic structures like Khue Van Cac, the Doctor's Steles, and the worship spaces.

Stories about the tradition of valuing education and talent of the ancestors helped the participants better understand the values that have shaped Vietnamese cultural identity.

Besides learning about history, the contestants also engaged in various cultural activities. They participated in a folk art class, directly practicing traditional painting techniques under the guidance of artisans and teachers, thereby discovering the beauty of Vietnamese folk paintings and the creativity in traditional crafts.

Additionally, the group had the chance to enjoy bun cha Hanoi, one of the signature dishes of the capital's cuisine. Through this experience, they not only savored the unique flavors of their homeland but also gained insights into culinary culture, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam and its people to the world.

The "Journey to the Roots – Following Uncle Ho's Footsteps" will continue in the coming days with numerous activities in Hanoi and Nghe An, taking the contestants to historical sites, cultural spaces, and interactive programs.

At each destination, they will have more opportunities to deepen their love for the Vietnamese language, gain a deeper understanding of the nation's historical and cultural traditions, and nurture pride in their roots, becoming "Vietnamese language ambassadors" who spread Vietnamese identity to the overseas Vietnamese community and international friends.
