The Frankfurt International Book Fair is the world's largest book trade fair, bringing together thousands of exhibitors from over 100 countries. It is an important forum for publishers, authors, and experts in the publishing field to meet, exchange copyrights, share experiences, and update on new global publishing trends.
This year, the Department of Publishing and Library under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and domestic publishers, organized the Vietnamese Book Booth to introduce the international community to the achievements and unique features of Vietnamese culture and knowledge.
The booth displayed numerous publications in fields such as history, culture, literature, science, economics, children's books, and digital publications. Notably, works introducing President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, cultural and historical figures, and traditional values provided visitors with a diverse perspective on Vietnam and its people.
In addition to book introductions, Hanoi organized traditional cultural experiences such as calligraphy writing and printing doctoral stele patterns to commemorate the 950th anniversary of the founding of Quoc Tu Giam (1076–2026), creating a cultural highlight at the book fair.
Expanding International Cooperation, Enhancing the Position of Vietnam's Publishing Industry
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Vietnamese Book Booth, Mr. Hoang Hai Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Publishing and Library, emphasized that participating in the Frankfurt Book Fair is a proactive step in the strategy to bring Vietnamese knowledge and culture to the world.
Vietnam's publishing industry has identified three key objectives at this year's book fair: promoting two-way cooperation and copyright transactions between Vietnamese publishers and international partners; increasing presence and enhancing Vietnam's position in the Asia-Pacific region; and learning international experiences in digital transformation, multimedia publishing development, and publishing industry management.

Within the framework of the event, the Vietnamese delegation held meetings with the Organizing Committee of the Frankfurt Book Fair and international partners to exchange experiences in organizing book fairs, training human resources, developing the copyright market, and exploring the roadmap for Vietnam to potentially become an Honorary Guest Country at the Frankfurt Book Fair in the future.
Representatives of Vietnam's publishing industry also expressed their desire to gradually build an international book fair of scale and prestige in Vietnam, thereby attracting foreign publishers, authors, and partners, while enhancing the position of Vietnam's publishing industry on the international stage.
Enhancing the Promotion of Vietnamese Culture in Germany
During the mission, the Vietnamese publishing delegation visited and worked with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt. At the meeting, Consul General Luu Xuan Dong and the delegation discussed enhancing the dissemination of Vietnamese books, contributing to preserving the language and culture of the Vietnamese community in Germany, especially among the younger generation.
Both sides are also interested in promoting publishing cooperation, translation, and introducing Vietnamese literary, historical, and cultural works to the German public. Through books and cultural exchange activities, bringing Vietnamese culture closer to the local people is expected to contribute to promoting the image of Vietnam and its people, enhancing mutual understanding, and attracting German tourists to Vietnam.

Spreading Vietnamese Knowledge and Culture to the World
Participating in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026 and expanding cooperation with international partners demonstrate the efforts of Vietnam's publishing industry in the integration process, enhancing knowledge exchange, and improving competitiveness.
Through books and cultural exchange activities, Vietnam not only introduces the traditional values and development achievements of the country but also expands cooperation opportunities in publishing, education, culture, and tourism.
Vietnam's presence at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026 thus carries significance beyond book trading activities, contributing to promoting cultural diplomacy, enhancing understanding among nations, and spreading the image of Vietnam to international friends.
