Advancing green transition through national efforts
“At the outset, I would like to congratulate Vietnam for organizing P4G Vietnam Summit 2025 on sustainable and people-centered green transition. For the last few days, I was quite impressed being here in Vietnam and in this Summit, to see and to know the progress of Vietnam in the areas of green transition and mitigating climate change, fighting disasters, and the development of human resources towards green transition. They have made significant progress”, said Ambassador Rahman when asked about his assessment of Vietnam’s recent efforts in green transition and sustainable development.
He also highlighted Vietnam’s potential in green transition, especially its geographical and demographic advantages: “Vietnam has quite a huge potential, substantial potential towards green transition. Your country has a good land territory. It has a large population who can be trained up for green transition and climate change, and mitigate the climate change.”
In addition, the Ambassador praised the strategic vision of Vietnam’s leadership in pursuing green transformation, “Vietnam has good leadership, those have very good understanding about the issues. They also have international integration and international partnership with the global leaders who are leaders in this climate change. They have also tried to obtain the necessary and appropriate technology.”
With these foundations, Ambassador Rahman firmly believes that Vietnam possesses all the necessary conditions to accelerate the green transition and can absolutely become a model for green transformation and sustainable development.
People at the center of the development
Commenting on the P4G 2025 Summit’s theme “Sustainable and People-Centered Green transition” Ambassador Rahman noted that both Vietnam and Bangladesh are implementing various programs to develop human resources for clean energy production, green energy management, and energy transition.
“Like Bangladesh, Vietnam has programs for human resource development towards green transition, clean energy production and management of energy, green energy. Vietnam has task forces and official government agencies in place. As a result, they’ve developed a workforce that is well-trained and capable of contributing significantly and efficiently to the green energy transition”, the Ambassador emphasized.

Speaking on Bangladesh’s experience in green transition, particularly in the garment industry - one of its key export sectors - Ambassador Rahman said the Bangladeshi Government has issued industrial policies requiring enterprises to comply with green energy and sustainability standards. These policies were developed through close consultations with partners and international organizations.
“In Bangladesh, we also have an industrial policy similar to Vietnam’s, that now all industries must comply with the green energy and green transition criteria, clean energy and green transition criteria”, the Ambassador noted.
He also stressed that one of the key similarities between Vietnam and Bangladesh is the shared commitment to placing people at the center of all development strategies
“From what I’ve seen, Vietnam and Bangladesh are pursuing a similar path with our green transition industrial policy. Both countries place strong emphasis on empowering people - helping them improve their lives, contribute meaningfully, and gain the education needed for sustainable development”, he remarked.
According to Ambassador Mohammad Lutfor Rahman, it is evident that Vietnam is gaining positive recognition from the international community for its green transition efforts. Furthermore, the alignment in development strategies between Vietnam and Bangladesh is expected to pave the way for deeper and broader cooperation between the two Asian nations in the future.
Vietnam hosts the fourth P4G Summit in 2025, taking place from April 14 to 17, 2025. This multilateral cooperation mechanism was initiated by Denmark in 2017 and includes eight other partner countries: Vietnam, Republic of Korea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, the Netherlands, Indonesia, and South Africa, along with five organizational partners—World Resources Institute (WRI), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), C40 Cities, World Economic Forum (WEF), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). P4G has held three previous summits hosted by Denmark, Republich of Korea, and Colombia, respectively, with the goal of fostering public-private partnerships and building a coalition of political leaders committed to implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030. This year’s summit is seen as an opportunity for Vietnam in general—and Hanoi in particular—to promote green tourism, strengthen ties with international partners, and mobilize resources for socio-economic development, climate change response, and the country’s sustainable development. |
