Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang receives UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam
WVR - On July 30, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang held a working session with Ms. Pauline Tamesis, the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Vietnam.

During the meeting, Ms. Pauline provided updates on the development of the Vietnam-UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for the 2027-2031 period. She noted that after receiving feedback from Vietnamese ministries and sectors, UN agencies have discussed, made research, and updated the draft document for Vietnam's consideration.
The Resident Coordinator emphasized that the Framework reflects a new approach in Vietnam-UN cooperation. Particularly, in the context of the UN actively implementing the UN80 initiative on reform and streamlining, this document is seen as a crucial guide for determining the structure and composition of the UN Agency Group in Vietnam in the coming period.

For his part, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang acknowledged the close coordination from the UN side during this process and suggested continuing discussions with Vietnamese agencies to expedite and finalize the Framework promptly.
The Deputy Minister stressed that the Framework needs to align with the major policies and guidelines of the 14th National Party Congress and Vietnam's priorities and orientations for development in the new phase.

On this occasion, both sides also discussed several measures to boost cooperation, aiming to prepare for the high-level delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam to attend the High-Level Week of the 81st UN General Assembly in September 2026 and activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's accession to the UN (1977-2027).
