Recently, FUNiX representatives attended the "Digital jobs for workers" forum, which also unveiled the "New opportunities" program. The event was organized by the National Innovation Center (NIC) - Department of Planning & Investment and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

At the event, FUNiX signed a partnership agreement with USAID's Economic Growth Support Program in Asia (US-SEGA/WISE) to carry out the activity "Digital transformation for Vietnamese workers".

The program will award scholarships worth 50,000 USD to workers who want to switch careers to IT. The courses last 3-6 months, including programs such as Full-stack programming; Web, mobile, java programming; Software Testing…

The program promises to bridge workers’ skill gap in the context of the fourth industrial revolution. By developing new skills, they can position themselves to take advantage of new opportunities available in the job market.

After the course at FUNiX, students will receive job placement support, with a starting salary of 8-12 million VND/month. Application outcome will not be decided on the basis of age, region or gender.

Speaking at the event, Vu Quoc Huy – Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC) emphasized: “Through training courses for workers on digital skills, abilities, knowledge, and work habits, the “New opportunities” program is expected to help workers meet job requirements, access and use digital technology, thereby better placed to find suitable jobs and advance in their careers. This is one of the important factors for workers in a constantly changing labor landscape”.

Aler Grubbs – USAID Vietnam Country Director said she was expressed by Vietnam's aspiration towards the future.

“USAID looks forward to helping Vietnam transition to a technology-based economy. This requires a significant change in the workforce’s skillset, in which digital skills are essential to be able to seize new opportunities”, she said.

At the forum, Hoang Van Dam (24 years old, Hanoi), who used to be a worker in North Thang Long Industrial Park, shared about his experiences of becoming a developer at BraveBits, FUNiX’s business partner, after a course at FUNiX. According to Dam, his current working environment and compensation is much better than the previous job.

As a pilot initiative within the "Workforce for an Innovation and Startup Ecosystem" (USAID - WISE) program, New opportunities wishes to bring together different stakeholders to create better job prospects for workers through reskilling or upskilling.

The project focuses on supporting workers who are or are likely to become unemployed due to the impact of Covid-19. For the first phase, it aims to recruit 300 workers, 20% of whom are women, and 50% of whom will find a better job after taking an IT course at FUNiX.

According to Hoang Viet Thang - Director of Digital Resource Center at FUNiX, the current IT labor market in Vietnam needs to be supplemented with graduates from non-traditional training institutions like FUNiX.

“The skills that FUNiX equips not only help learners advance in their current job but can also bring about new job opportunities”, he said.

With a strong support system and a partnership network of 113 tech companies, FUNiX provides quality online training programs with guarantee of 100% job placement. Students are equipped with the knowledge, skills to learn for life and advance their career.

In November 2021, FUNiX together with 113 tech companies launched the "Digital transformation of workers" project, which provides workers with free programming courses. In February 2022, FUNiX and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the project "Expanding digital workforce transformation" through online training.

The project awards scholarships to residents of the Mekong Delta region, an area heavily affected by climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic. All graduates are guaranteed job placement at more than 100 technology companies nationwide in FUNiX’s network .
