On June 10, 2025 Qualcomm officially announced the opening of its new Artificial Intelligence Research & Development (AI R&D) Center in Vietnam, marking a significant step in its nearly two-decade journey of advancing the country’s technology ecosystem. The event, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, as well as key partners and stakeholders, underscored Qualcomm’s dedication to accelerating AI innovation, nurturing high-value talent, and supporting Vietnam’s transformation into a regional high-tech powerhouse.

Strengthening AI Capabilities Through Strategic Integration

Following Qualcomm’s strategic acquisition of the generative AI division of VinAI, one of Vietnam’s leading AI research institutions, the Center incorporates Qualcomm’s world-class expertise with deep local understanding in machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. This milestone strengthens Qualcomm’s capabilities in foundational AI models while establishing a long-term R&D presence in Vietnam.

The newly established AI R&D Center will have researchers and engineers based in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, who will be part of Qualcomm's global AI Research team. These teams will play a critical role in advancing generative and agentic AI solutions across smartphones, personal computers, XR, automotive, and IoT applications.
