Sri Lanka - Vietnam inaugurates direct Colombo - Ho Chi Minh City flight, connecting two prominent destinations

On August 19, Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, Sri Lanka, warmly welcomed the first flight between Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City operated by Vietjet.

The new route was celebrated by Sri Lanka's Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation and Minister of Energy Anura Karunathilake, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe, Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Trinh Thi Tam, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Vietnam Poshitha Perera, along with Vietjet leaders and representatives from regulatory agencies and citizens of both countries.

The new route is expected to enhance Vietnam - Sri Lanka connectivity, facilitate trade, boost tourism, and expand cultural exchanges between the two nations.

The Colombo (Sri Lanka) - Ho Chi Minh City route serves passengers with three round-trip flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Flights depart from Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) at 18:15 (local time), landing at Bandaranaike Airport (Colombo) at 21:50 (local time).

Flights depart from Colombo at 23:00 (local time) and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 05:55 (local time) the following day.

Colombo serves as a gateway to exploring the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean,” Sri Lanka, renowned for its alluring tropical beaches, lush tea hills, rich heritage, and diverse ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant economic, cultural, and tourism hub in Vietnam.

The new route not only shortens the journey between Sri Lanka and Vietnam but also provides opportunities for residents and tourists to explore the unique features of each destination. It also facilitates convenient connections on Vietjet's extensive network across Asia-Pacific, Australia, and beyond, acting as a bridge between cities, economies, and people.
