International journalists could experience the process of producing clean, high-quality Vietnamese coffee beans from the nursery of Nestle's co-operative research institute, which was handed over to farmers by the coffee reforestation and sustainable farming support programme with technical assistance from NESCAFÉ Plan, and visit Nestlé's state-of-the-art coffee processing plant, which produces products 100 per cent made by Vietnamese coffee both for the domestic and export markets.

In order to have a source of clean and high-quality coffee to meet domestic demand and export, since 2011 Nestlé Vietnam has supported thousands of farmers to re-cultivate, develop sustainable agriculture combined with manufacturing and exporting to increase the value of Vietnamese coffee beans through the NESCAFÉ Plan in the Central Highlands provinces.

After more than seven years, NESCAFÉ Plan has distributed over 27 million high-yield, disease-resistant seedlings to support farmers replanting over 21,000 hectares of aging coffee trees. In addition to supporting sustainable farming practices in accordance with international 4C standards, the NESCAFÉ Plan also assists farmers in managing coffee quality, as well as supports them in updating market information.

In an effort to increase the value of Vietnamese coffee, Nestlé Vietnam has continued to invest in manufacturing high-quality coffee beans. Last July, the company put into operation the production line of NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto coffee tablet with the initial capacity of about 2,500 tonnes per year (equivalent to 130 million tablets) and is expected to increase capacity in the coming years.

This production line uses 100 per cent of high-quality coffee beans sourced from Vietnam and meets the needs of Vietnamese and 14 different export markets around the world.

Previously, Nestlé Vietnam invested the largest decaffeinated coffee plant in Asia in Vietnam as well as developed the Nescafé brand from Vietnamese coffee to boost Vietnamese coffee exports around the world. All NESCAFÉ coffee products use 100 per cent Vietnamese coffee holding the 4C international certificate. This is in line with the policy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) to promote Vietnam's key agricultural products and improve the status of deep-processed coffee products and accounts for 10 per cent of total coffee bean production in the country.

This promotion campaign once again confirms NESCAFÉ's tireless efforts to promote the processing of high-quality coffee in the country and to bring Vietnamese coffee to the world.
