On the afternoon of April 2, during a regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reporters requested the Spokesperson to provide information on Vietnam's discussions with relevant parties, particularly Iran, to facilitate the passage of Vietnamese vessels, including oil tankers, through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, since the onset of the conflict, the Ministry has closely coordinated with the Ministry of Construction, directing Vietnamese representative missions in the Middle East to closely monitor the local situation, regularly update information, maintain communication with ships and crew members on maritime routes in the area, and stand ready to provide support if necessary. To date, Vietnamese ships and vessels remain safe.

“From the beginning of the conflict, when Vietnamese ships faced difficulties in the Strait of Hormuz, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in close coordination with relevant Vietnamese authorities, has been actively engaging with involved parties to ensure security, safety, and favorable conditions for Vietnamese ships and crew members passing through the Strait of Hormuz,” the Spokesperson stated.

According to Spokesperson Hang, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has collaborated with the Ministry of Construction to work with the Iranian Embassy in Hanoi and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, requesting Iran to facilitate and implement measures to ensure the safety of Vietnamese ships and workers, allowing them to leave the area and navigate safely through the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible.

“Currently, based on Vietnam's request, Iranian authorities are implementing procedures related to the movement of Vietnamese ships,” Pham Thu Hang emphasized.

Spokesperson Hang also mentioned that Vietnamese authorities are working with businesses and ship owners to prepare necessary procedures, continuing to engage with local authorities on technical requirements to ensure that Vietnamese cargo ships and crew members can move at the earliest opportunity, while ensuring the security and safety of people and vessels during transit.
