The meeting was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong, leaders of a number of units from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives from businesses investing and operating in the Indonesian market such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Vingroup, TH Truemilk, FPT, The gioi di dong (Mobile World), Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa, and CT Group.

Based on the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Indonesia over the past 70 years, especially the upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2025, economic cooperation between the two countries has seen significant growth.

Bilateral trade turnover reached 17.2 billion USD in 2025, nearing the target of 18 billion USD by 2028. The number of Indonesian tourists to Vietnam in 2025 reached 203,000, more than doubling compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic.

This achievement owes much to the contributions of businesses from both countries, including those investing and operating in Indonesia.

Among them, Vingroup has initially established an electric vehicle ecosystem with the presence of Vinfast, XanhSM, and V-green. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air are effectively operating flights connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Jakarta and Bali. Other companies like FPT, The gioi di dong, and TH Truemilk are also exploring and expanding their operations in Indonesia.

Businesses highly appreciate the active support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia in facilitating their business and investment activities. They also agree that the Indonesian market holds great potential. Within ASEAN, Indonesia is the largest economy, a G20 member with a population of 280 million and significant purchasing power.

The Deputy Minister urged businesses to take a pioneering and creative role in enhancing effective connections and cooperation between the two economies, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both nations, and contributing to the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia.

In line with the spirit of the 14th Party Congress Resolution, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to accompany Vietnamese businesses, focusing on enterprises and citizens as the center, promoting business cooperation opportunities, and supporting businesses to achieve concrete and substantive results in international and regional markets, including Indonesia.
