The theme of the Spring Homeland 2026 reflects the vision and aspiration for the country's development in a new phase. “Aspiration” embodies the strong spirit of the Vietnamese nation; “Peace” is a core value, a foundation for sustainable development and international integration, radiating from Hanoi – the City of Peace; “Prosperity” is the goal of building a rapidly developing, sustainable, and wealthy Vietnam, where all citizens, including the overseas Vietnamese community, are empowered to realize their potential, intelligence, and aspiration to contribute.

The Spring Homeland 2026 is the longest-running program in recent years, occurring in the context of the successful 14th National Congress of the Party, ushering in a new phase of proactive, confident development and aspiration for the nation.

The program contributes to spreading the message of national unity, where the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part, always accompanying the homeland.

Notably, in 2026, the program will connect with Ninh Binh province for the first time after the merger, enhancing interaction and connection between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland; simultaneously, it provides an opportunity for Ninh Binh to showcase its development potential, advantages, and unique cultural values to the world through the overseas Vietnamese community.

Speaking at the program briefing, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the SCOV, affirmed: “The community of over 6.5 million overseas Vietnamese is an inseparable part of the nation, playing an important role in foreign affairs, exchange, and international interaction across economic, political, cultural, and scientific-technological fields, especially in the digital space. Connecting overseas Vietnamese with the homeland contributes to building 'people's hearts', national prestige on the international stage, laying the foundation for development by 2045 and beyond.”

He stated that, in the spirit of implementing the 14th Congress Resolution, the theme “Aspiration for Vietnam: Peace, Prosperity” of Spring Homeland 2026 is defined as a focal point, with Hanoi as the central location for the event, while also connecting with other localities, including Ninh Binh province – a region with a rich and beautiful culture.

Answering the press about the new features of this year's program, he emphasized: “Spring Homeland 2026 is being held for the first time in two locations, Hanoi and Ninh Binh, reflecting the strong innovations of the country after the 14th Congress. Many legislative and administrative reforms, especially nationality policies, create conditions for overseas Vietnamese to both integrate internationally and maintain Vietnamese citizenship, participating more deeply in socio-economic activities. Before the 14th Congress, over 1,300 comments and nearly 700 associations and individuals participated in discussions on draft documents, demonstrating the genuine companionship of the overseas Vietnamese community.”

From the perspective of the organizing locality, Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, stated that the city is closely coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the SCOV to create cultural highlights for the program with three main contents: Meeting with city leaders and 100 outstanding overseas Vietnamese to listen to their contributions, organizing incense offering activities, and a special art program with many trend-setting, deeply national performances.

According to her, this is Hanoi's first Spring Homeland after the 14th Congress, an opportunity for the capital to demonstrate its pioneering role, valuing intellectual resources, and promoting talent attraction policies, including the overseas Vietnamese community.

With the theme “Aspiration for Vietnam: Peace, Prosperity”, Spring Homeland 2026 is not only a large-scale cultural-diplomatic event at the beginning of the year but also carries profound political-social significance, affirming the role of the overseas Vietnamese community in the national unity bloc, spreading trust, and igniting the aspiration to contribute to the sustainable development of the country in the new phase.
