A conference on connecting investment, trade, and tourism between Hanoi and the Northwest provinces, entitled “Link to Grow”, was held in Lao Cai City on November 23.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) Le Tu Luc said the event aimed to support enterprises to promote their products, connect with other enterprises, and seek business opportunities.

According to Ha Duc Binh, director of the Lao Cai Centre for Industrial and Trade Promotion, the province is a transit location on the economic corridor of China’s Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Nam, connecting Vietnam and ASEAN countries with China’s vast Southwest market. A large volume of agricultural products are exported through Lao Cai international border gate each year, including fruits, seafood, and planted forest wood.

At the conference, several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between parties, including an MoU between TraphacoSapa and Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, an MoU between HanoiTourist and Lao Cai Provincial Tourism Association, and an MoU between the Lao Cai Provincial Business Association and the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.

Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition of typical products of Hanoi and provinces in the Northwest region was opened at the walking street space in the inner of Lao Cai City on the evening of November 23.

The four-day exhibition covered about 3,000m2, highlighting the achievements, potential, and investment environment of Hanoi and the Northwest provinces as well as the distinguished products of these localities.
