With the aspiration of honouring the beauty of Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dresses) and promoting Ao Dai as a tourism product, the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2023 officially opened, at the pedestrian space around Hoan Kiem Lake.

The opening ceremony conveyed the spirit of the times and the love for Ao Dai in the community. The performances of Ao Dai by famous designers across the country are interspersed among the art performances.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha said, that the Ao Dai Tourism Festival is a cultural activity to preserve and develop traditional cultural values, as well as honouring the beauty of Vietnamese culture through the traditional Ao Dai and inspiring patriotism among younger generations.

The event also offers an opportunity for tourism businesses, artisans and designers to exchange, cooperate and promote their products.

The 2023 Ao Dai Tourism Festival consists of a series of cultural, art and exchange events around Hoan Kiem Lake. An exhibition space was arranged to feature Ao Dai photos in association with Hanoi’s heritages, 60 pavilions introducing products of Hanoi, Ao Dai designs by famous designers and brands, and the introduction of tours and tourism products of the capital city.

A notable highlight of this year's festival is an Ao Dai road themed “Walking around Sword Lake”, with the reproduction of thousand-year-old symbols of the capital city such as craft village models, West Lake lotus, One Pillar Pagoda, Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Quan Chuong Gate.

The Ao Dai performances will highlight the thousand-year civilisation of Thang Long – Hanoi.

Notably, on the morning of October 29, there will be an art performance and Ao Dai parade, featuring more than 600 women who are members of the Hanoi Women's Union, as well as from organisations and families around the city.
