Enhancing capacity, promoting the role of host for APEC Vietnam 2027

In her opening remarks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang emphasized that over nearly four decades of development, APEC has affirmed its role as the leading economic forum in the Asia-Pacific region, making significant contributions to the peace, stability, and prosperity of the area. Amidst profound regional and global changes, APEC continues to serve as a crucial platform for promoting dialogue, cooperation, and consensus-building among member economies, demonstrating high adaptability to new development trends and evolving situations.
The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam will host APEC 2027 as the country enters a new strategic development era, aiming for double-digit growth and establishing a new growth model based on productivity, quality, and efficiency to enhance the competitiveness of the economy. Vietnam is advancing comprehensive diplomacy at a new height with an independent, self-reliant, resilient, peaceful, friendly, multilateral, and diversified foreign policy, actively and proactively integrating into the international community comprehensively and deeply.
In this process, APEC and the Asia-Pacific region remain top priorities in Vietnam's foreign policy. As the host of APEC for the third time, following 2006 and 2017, Vietnam is committed to making every effort, working closely with member economies to successfully organize APEC 2027, contributing positively to shaping the forum's cooperation in the new phase.

Speaking at the workshop, John W. McIntyre, U.S. Embassy Charge d'Affaires in Hanoi, affirmed that Vietnam is one of the United States' important partners in the Indo-Pacific region, with an increasingly significant role and position in the region and on the international stage.
The Charge d'Affaires highly appreciated Vietnam's role in APEC – the leading economic cooperation forum in the Asia-Pacific region; emphasizing that the successful hosting of APEC in 2006 and 2017 affirmed Vietnam's organizational, coordination, and leadership capabilities, and expressed confidence that Vietnam will continue to uphold this role in preparing and hosting APEC 2027.
John W. McIntyre affirmed that the United States will continue to work closely with Vietnam in preparing for APEC 2027 through capacity-building programs, skill enhancement, sharing experiences from previous APEC hosts, and connecting with international experts and partners.

During the two-day workshop, delegates, along with international experts and speakers, will exchange, evaluate, and summarize the cooperation process and priorities of the APEC Forum in recent times, and outline future cooperation directions; sharing experiences and training key skills such as chairing, co-chairing meetings, building agendas, negotiating documents, and promoting common consensus.
The discussions at the workshop will contribute positively to developing priorities, initiatives, and specific actions that Vietnam can promote in APEC 2027, aiming to create substantial and long-lasting value for the region.
In the coming time, Vietnam will continue to work closely with partners, including the United States and the international APEC Secretariat, to implement practical capacity-building activities, aiming for the successful organization of APEC Vietnam 2027.

| Earlier that day, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang met with U.S. Embassy Charge d'Affaires in Hanoi John W. McIntyre, representatives from the U.S. Department of State, the US-APEC RISE program, and international experts and speakers, expressing gratitude for the cooperation and support of the partners, while discussing preparations for APEC 2027.
