Promoting local cooperation and enhancing Vietnam's image in Bulgaria: Ambassador

WVR - On March 11, Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet visited and worked with Mayor Galina Stoyanova in Kazanlak city to promote local cooperation between Kazanlak city and Lai Chau province, and to discuss plans to promote Vietnam's image at the 2026 Rose Festival.

During the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet expressed her pleasure to revisit Kazanlak, a city rich in cultural traditions of Bulgaria and known as the "capital" of roses, famous worldwide for its rose cultivation and essential oil production.

The Ambassador emphasized that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria has been continuously strengthened and developed, especially through high-level visits and contacts. The two countries have established a Strategic Partnership framework, providing a crucial foundation for expanding cooperation in various fields.

In this context, proactive connections and cooperation between localities in both countries are significant, contributing to deepening bilateral relations.

In recent years, Vietnam-Bulgaria cooperation has been further promoted in various fields such as trade, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the re-signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Kazanlak city and Lai Chau province in November 2025 during the visit of Kazanlak City Council Chairman Nikolay Dimitrov to Lai Chau.

According to the Ambassador, the Memorandum opens a new phase of cooperation between the two localities with a broader scope, not only in traditional fields like culture and tourism but also including trade, investment, education, training, labor, agriculture, and forestry.

The Vietnamese Embassy always considers local cooperation as a priority in promoting Vietnam-Bulgaria relations.

Mayor of Kazanlak city Galina Stoyanova expressed her pleasure in welcoming the Ambassador and the Embassy's delegation, affirming that Kazanlak city authorities will continue discussions with Lai Chau province to outline specific cooperation directions based on the signed Memorandum of Cooperation. She also expressed a desire for a Vietnamese delegation to attend this year's Rose Festival.

Discussing potential cooperation areas, Ms. Galina Stoyanova introduced the Bulgarian Rose and Essential Oil Crops Research Institute in Kazanlak city and expressed readiness to consider cooperation with Vietnam in implementing rose cultivation projects and developing products from rose essential oil.

Both sides agreed on the need to enhance cultural exchanges by connecting schools in the two countries and jointly participating in and organizing cultural events in Bulgaria to enhance the promotion of Vietnam's image.

The Ambassador affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria always considers local cooperation a priority in promoting Vietnam-Bulgaria relations. The Embassy is ready to serve as a liaison with Vietnamese ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses interested in cooperation, and to coordinate the organization of investment, trade promotion, and cultural exchange activities in both countries.

Discussing the enhancement of Vietnamese cultural promotion at the Rose Festival in Kazanlak – one of Bulgaria's major cultural events, the Ambassador stated that the Vietnamese Embassy is ready to participate in the 2026 festival to introduce Vietnam's image and culture, thereby contributing to promoting people-to-people exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding between the two nations.

The meeting took place in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing practical cooperation between Kazanlak city and Lai Chau, contributing to further promoting the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Bulgaria.
