Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang meets with Vietnamese community in Poland

WVR - During her working visit to Poland from July 5–8, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang met with and learned about the situation of the Vietnamese community in Poland. She was accompanied by Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland, Ha Hoang Hai.

The working delegation held meetings with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Poland; visited the ASG commercial centre in Warsaw and the headquarters of Tan Viet Group in Gdansk; met with a number of overseas Vietnamese outstanding representatives as Ms. Cao Hong Vinh, Member of the Ochota District Council and President of the Hoang Sa–Truong Sa Club, Mr. Mai Hai Lam, founder of the WE LOVE PHO organization; attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnamese Language Summer Camp; and visited Nhan Hoa Pagoda and Thien Phuc Pagoda.

The Vietnamese community in Poland numbers around 30,000 people, including nearly 3,000 with Polish citizenship. About 80% reside in Warsaw, while the rest are spread across other cities and regions of the country.

The Vietnamese in Poland are known for their economic and intellectual contributions, playing a positive role in the country’s socio-economic development. They are a united community that supports one another, abides by local laws, and always maintains a strong connection to their homeland.

On July 5, at a meeting with the Vietnamese Association and dozens of Vietnamese organizations in Poland, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Poland, said that the Association has always played a central role in timely supporting the community, protecting the legal interests of compatriots—especially during the COVID‑19 pandemic, aiding Vietnamese from Ukraine to Poland, and during the major fire at the Marywilska commercial centre…

The Association is not only a community link but also a symbol of solidarity and mutual support, acting as a bridge in economic, cultural, and social events between Vietnam and Poland.

The Vietnamese community in Poland preserves and promotes national cultural identity through organizing many cultural events that meet the spiritual and religious needs of compatriots.

In the host society, the Vietnamese community is recognized as hard-working, united, and responsible, making meaningful contributions to building friendly relations with local authorities and residents. With regard to their homeland, they remain strongly connected to Vietnam, actively participating in charitable activities to support compatriots in the country.

In addition to the Vietnamese Association, representatives of various community organizations in Poland—including Mr. Tran Trong Hung, Chairman of the Vietnamese Business Association; Ms. Tong Thu Huong, Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Women’s Association; Ms. Cao Hong Vinh, Member of the Ochota District Council in Warsaw and President of the Hoang Sa–Truong Sa Club; and Ms. Nguyen Viet Trieu, Chairwoman of the Federation of Vietnamese Women’s Associations in Europe—shared updates on their activities and presented 18 recommendations and proposals. These covered a wide range of areas, including economic and trade development, tourism, culture and education between the two countries, community and legal affairs, preservation of the Vietnamese language, visits by overseas Vietnamese youth to Truong Sa (Spratly Islands), and annual summer camps.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her pride in seeing the community develop strongly, deeply integrate into local society, and contribute positively to the socio‑economic development of Poland, strengthening the Vietnam–Poland friendship over the past 75 years.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that our Party and State always care for and value the resources of overseas Vietnamese; provide information on domestic affairs; address requests and concerns of compatriots; and hope for contributions to national rejuvenation, especially with science and technology as a foundation.

During visits and working sessions at the ASG Commercial Center (July 5) and Tan Viet Group (July 6), the business community in Poland reported they are transitioning their business models after the Covid‑19 pandemic and amid complex global developments impacting compatriots.

Besides traditional business, trends of opening restaurants, nail salons, online sales, and combined retail‑wholesale are developing strongly. Vietnamese businesses in Poland also proposed issues concerning product certification, logistics, and business connections to promote Vietnamese goods in Poland.

Mr. Tao Ngoc Tu, Chairman of Tan Viet Group, emphasized the importance of brand building, with the spirit “think it, do it, otherwise you cannot reach far,” to develop sustainable trade.

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang shared her appreciation for the adaptability of Vietnamese businesses in Poland, expressing the hope that Vietnamese businesses in Poland actively contribute to national development in the new development phase—especially in light of Politburo Resolution 57 on science‑technology and innovation development, and Resolution 68 on private economic development—by introducing experts, intellectuals, and concrete projects.

On July 7, at a meeting with the Hoang Sa–Truong Sa Club, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang was moved to meet 35 overseas Vietnamese “Truong Sa soldiers” along with compatriots in Poland; she provided updates on Vietnam’s policies regarding maritime sovereignty protection.

Appreciating the Club and the broader Vietnamese community in Poland for implementing many practical activities to connect the overseas Vietnamese and affirm and protect the country’s maritime sovereignty, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang encouraged the club to continue spreading images and love of Vietnam’s seas and islands among overseas Vietnamese in Poland, helping to disseminate the truth and Vietnam’s justice to the international community.

Earlier, on July 7, at the opening of the 10th “Fun with Vietnamese Language” Summer Camp 2025 at Lac Long Quan Vietnamese school, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang praised the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Poland and teachers in igniting the preservation of culture and Vietnamese language so far, including activities in response to the annual Vietnamese Language Appreciation Day (September 8). She suggested the summer camp initiative be expanded in Vietnamese communities in other countries.

On this occasion, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang presented Vietnamese language learning books to Lac Long Quan school and awarded commemorative medals to teachers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to teaching Vietnamese in Poland.

Regarding Vietnamese pagodas in Poland, the delegation acknowledged the contributions of monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers at Vietnamese pagodas, who not only care for the spiritual life of the local Vietnamese community but also help spread unity and the good values of Vietnamese Buddhism.

Poland was the first stop on Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang’s working visit to three countries (Poland, Denmark, the Netherlands) from July 5–13, 2025.
