The solemn event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang and representatives from the embassies of eight African countries in Vietnam: Morocco, Algeria, Mozambique, Nigeria, Angola, Libya, Egypt, and South Africa.
In his opening remarks, on behalf of the group of African Ambassadors in Vietnam, Moroccan Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi shared that the celebration of Africa Day in Vietnam is not only an occasion to reflect on the shared history and achievements between the two continents, but also a special opportunity to envision a future where friendship and cooperation between African nations and Vietnam grow even stronger.
Ambassador Chouaibi emphasized that African countries highly appreciate Vietnam's commitment to promoting comprehensive partnerships with African nations. This is evident in Vietnam’s status as an official observer of the African Union (AU), as well as its strategic vision that places Africa at the heart of its foreign policy.

Ambassador Chouaibi expressed his hope that in the future, cooperation between African countries and Vietnam in areas such as food security, health security, and energy will continue to be prioritized. In addition, shared challenges such as disease control, environmental protection, disaster management, and efficient resource use are areas where both Africa and Vietnam are working hard to find joint solutions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang extended congratulations on the 62nd anniversary of Africa Day (1963-2025) - an occasion that celebrates the unity and solidarity of Africa in its past struggles for liberation and its ongoing progress in development and nation-building.
On behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, the Deputy Minister conveyed best wishes to the governments and peoples of African countries, to the Ambassadors and Chargés d'affaires of African Embassies in Hanoi, and to all African friends currently living, working, and studying in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Hang congratulated Africa on the significant achievements it has made in all fields and commended the growing prestige and influence of the African Union both regionally and globally. She affirmed that Vietnam will always support and believe in the African Union’s increasingly important voice in regional and international forums, contributing positively to solving global challenges and fostering a just, inclusive, and prosperous world.
She also expressed honor in welcoming many high-level delegations from African countries to Vietnam over the past year, particularly for the P4G Summit and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (1975-2025). These visits are clear testimony to the valuable friendship, support, and priority that African partners place on their relations with Vietnam.
In this new phase of development, Vietnam aspires to deepen multifaceted cooperation with Africa at both bilateral and multilateral levels. Vietnam stands ready to continue contributing meaningfully to the African Union’s Agenda 2063. With the wise leadership and tireless determination of the AU and the African people, alongside strong support from the international community, Vietnam firmly believes that the vision of a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable Africa will soon become a reality.
