Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu receives Director of Russian Institute for Strategic Studies

WVR - On April 1, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu received Mr. Mikhail E. Fradkov, Director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS), former Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, on the occasion of the RISS delegation's visit to Vietnam.

At the reception, expressing his pleasure to welcome Mr. Mikhail E. Fradkov and the RISS delegation to Hanoi, Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. Vietnam appreciates the great and valuable support and assistance that the Soviet people gave Vietnam in the past struggle for independence and national reunification, as well as the support of the Russian Federation today in the cause of national construction and defense.

Standing Deputy Minister Vu emphasized that Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, active and proactive international integration for peace, cooperation and development, taking people as the center, the goal and driving force of national development. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the positive development of Vietnam - Russia relations in recent times, in which political trust has been increasingly consolidated, bilateral cooperation mechanisms continue to be effective, and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between localities are increasingly vibrant.

For his part, Mr. Mikhail E. Fradkov expressed his pleasure to return to Vietnam, thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the warm and friendly welcome, and shared his deep impressions of the development achievements that Vietnam has obtained in recent times.

The RISS Director affirmed that the Russian Federation always attaches importance to the increasingly high role and position of Vietnam in the region and the world; emphasized the desire for the two countries to continue to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in traditional fields, while promoting cooperation, information exchange, and strategic research at the expert level between research and policy-making agencies of the two countries.

The two sides discussed the global and regional situation, the trend of the international order shifting toward multipolarity, and the importance of advancing multilateralism in addressing global challenges. They also highlighted the role of science, technology, and innovation in enhancing national competitiveness, responding to non-traditional challenges, and fostering sustainable growth.
