In her opening remarks, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya emphasized that the ceremony aims to commemorate the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, revered by all Thai people as the “Father of the Nation” for over seven decades.
His entire life was dedicated to more than 4,000 royal projects across the country, ranging from irrigation, agriculture, resource conservation, flood and drought prevention, to drug control and public health care, all of which have had long-lasting impacts on people from all walks of life.
Regarding the longstanding friendship between Thailand and Vietnam, the Ambassador stated that 2025 marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations. The two countries are entering a new era as they officially upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025.
The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership not only signifies enhanced cooperation across all fields but also reaffirms the proactive and constructive roles of Vietnam and Thailand in maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region.
According to Ambassador Sriphiromya, as the ninth largest foreign investor in Vietnam and Vietnam's largest trading partner in ASEAN, Thailand remains a close and responsible economic partner with a total accumulated investment capital exceeding 15 billion USD.
The two Governments will continue to work closely to enhance cooperation to reduce trade barriers, aiming for a bilateral trade target of 25 billion USD, supporting each other in deeper integration into the global value chain, and creating a business-friendly environment to mitigate the impact of global trade tensions, thereby increasing trade and investment volumes between the two countries.

Furthermore, Ambassador Sriphiromya affirmed that people-to-people cooperation continues to be a crucial driving force in the foreign policy of both countries. More than 100,000 ethnic Vietnamese in Thailand, especially in the Northeast region, continue to serve as important bridges in bilateral relations.
“We are committed to enhancing mutual understanding through people-to-people and cultural exchanges. In the first 10 months of 2025, over 500,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Thailand, and more than 300,000 Thai tourists visited Vietnam. We hope these numbers will continue to grow for both sides, and we will continue to organize events to promote tourism between the two countries,” the Ambassador pointed out.
Notably, in March 2025, the Thai Embassy organized the Thailand Festival at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, attracting over 10,000 visitors in three days. The event not only served as a cultural bridge to enhance understanding between the peoples of the two countries but also honored Hanoi as a prominent historical and cultural center of Vietnam.
“Next year, Thailand and Vietnam will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations (1976-2026). I look forward to accompanying Vietnamese friends and partners across the country to commemorate this important milestone and further deepen the relationship between the two countries for the common benefit of both peoples,” Ambassador Sriphiromya expressed.
