Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand marks 80th National Day, highlighting vibrant bilateral relations

WVR - On the evening of October 9, at the Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand solemnly organized the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The celebration was attended by the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand Chalat Khamchuang; Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Vijavat Isarabhakdi; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Le Thi Thu Hang; Permanent Secretary of Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eksiri Pintaruchi; General Suchart Thepraksa Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defense; Deputy Commander of the Navy Admiral Suchart Thampitakei; General Nuttapong Praokaew, Deputy Chief of Joint Staff; along with over 700 guests representing government agencies, the National Assembly, associations, business communities, diplomatic corps, international friends, and the Vietnamese community in Thailand.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung emphasized that the path taken by Vietnam and its people over the past 80 years has been filled with challenges, sacrifices, and pride.

Despite facing many difficulties and challenges ahead, Vietnam is determined to strive towards the goal of "a wealthy people, a strong nation, democracy, justice, and civilization", building a strong, prosperous, and happy Vietnam by 2045.

The country remains steadfast in its foreign policy of "independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, diversifying and multilateralizing foreign relations; being a friend, a reliable partner, and an active, responsible member of the international community".

More than 700 guests attended the reception celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung also affirmed that the people of Vietnam and Thailand, as well as colleagues and partners in each country, will continue to nurture, expand, and deepen the bilateral relationship within the new framework of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and worldwide.

Representing the Thai Government, Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed the deep and enduring relationship between the two countries. He highlighted that over the decades, both governments have worked to promote comprehensive cooperation for the benefit of both nations and their people.

He emphasized that Vietnam and Thailand have upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting the strong commitment of the leaders of both countries to deepen strategic dialogue, promote economic cooperation, and enhance mutual understanding between their peoples.

According to Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, economic cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam brings numerous benefits to the Mekong sub-region and the broader Southeast Asia region. Thailand and Vietnam are currently among each other's key trading partners. Vietnam is a top destination for Thai investors.

In recent years, Vietnam has also emerged as a significant investor in Thailand, showcasing the achievements of Vietnam's economic development.

Advisor to the Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the relationship between the peoples of the two countries is the foundation of the friendship between Thailand and Vietnam.

He also noted that Thailand and Vietnam will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2026, marking an important milestone. He expressed confidence that Thailand and Vietnam will continue to write new chapters of success and cooperation, promoting peace, prosperity, and sustainable growth for both nations, their peoples, and the Southeast Asian region.

The ceremony took place in a Vietnamese cultural setting, featuring a culinary area showcasing many traditional dishes such as "bun cha", "banh cuon", "banh xeo", "banh bot loc", and Vietnamese coffee, offering guests a real taste of Vietnamese culture.

The artistic program at the event also left a strong impression with outstanding performances such as the dance "Vibrant Vietnam" by students from the Faculty of Performing Arts and Applied Fine Arts, Chulalongkorn University, showcasing the traditional beauty and indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people. The lively and youthful dance "See tinh" demonstrated the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity in Vietnamese music, highlighting the strong influence of Vietnamese culture in the international art scene.

Additionally, there was a performance of the Dan Bau and musical exchanges between the Royal Thai Navy band and Vietnamese artists, creating a profound cultural and artistic exchange atmosphere.
