Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang conducted a working session with Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eksiri Pintaruchi.

On October 9, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang visited Thailand, met with Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eksiri Pintaruchi, and attended the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam celebration organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand.

During the meeting with Permanent Secretary Eksiri Pintaruchi, both parties expressed satisfaction with the positive outcomes in bilateral cooperation, marked by the recent upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May, as well as collaboration in multilateral frameworks, particularly within ASEAN and between ASEAN and the EU.

Welcoming Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, Permanent Secretary Eksiri Pintaruchi expressed delight at the increased exchanges and sharing of experiences on issues of mutual interest between the two countries.

Deputy Minister LHang praised the cooperation between the two nations through joint mechanisms such as the Joint Cabinet, Joint Committee, and Political Consultations, emphasizing the coordinating role of the Foreign Ministries in promoting the implementation of agreed arrangements. She thanked Thailand for its close cooperation and support in citizen protection, including assisting in the safe repatriation of Vietnamese citizens detained in Myawaddy, Myanmar.

Both sides agreed to closely coordinate to effectively implement the outcomes of the 5th Vietnam-Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting (May 2025), to soon complete the development of the 2026-2030 Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and to actively arrange and thoroughly prepare for upcoming high-level visits and bilateral mechanisms, including the Joint Committee at the Foreign Minister level.

On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on cooperation and shared experiences in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Affirming Vietnam's commitment to combating IUU fishing and strictly implementing EU recommendations, including issuing legal documents, closely managing the fleet through monitoring and mandatory installation of positioning devices, and strengthening sanctions, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang urged Thailand to continue close cooperation with Vietnam in combating IUU fishing, exchanging and providing information on cases of fishing vessels and fishermen violations between the two countries for coordinated handling, as well as in fisheries cooperation and maritime collaboration.

The Thai side welcomed Vietnam's efforts in combating IUU fishing, shared experiences in IUU prevention and effective marine resource management, and agreed to promote sustainable fisheries cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang attended the 80th National Day celebration of Vietnam.

Later that evening, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang attended the solemn 80th National Day celebration, organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand. The event was attended by the Vice President of the Thai House of Representatives, leaders of various government agencies, the Thai Senate, the diplomatic corps, businesses, and a large number of overseas Vietnamese from various regions of Thailand.
